Re: Oil
I'm not too concerned as it is 2k off a service which will get done at dealer. So perhaps I'll leave filter in for convenience.. don't like the sound of oil on back tyre
I'm more interested in correct oil, or knowing what it has in it already. $60-$70 is fine as it's quality I want.

Re: Oil
Cheers Jonnymac. I'm based in Fitzroy. I was going to pop into peter stevens for the filter - perhaps I could get some marked up oil while I'm there. Would there be anything wrong with getting synthetic oil from supercheap or similar? Also - no problem borrowing a torque wrench, but is that really ...

Oil
I have a 09 6R. I'm in the middle of a service period but have a P.I track day next week and want to change the oil for it. Important to do filter too? What brand 10-40 and is synthetic recommended?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: ZX6R vs 636R
Where did you ride this selection? I walked into PS last week in Melbs and was told no demos of 10 or 636 as stock was slim.

Key cutting
So I want to get a 09 zx6r key cut. I bought the blank key with chip for $59. But they want another $120 to program it at PS in Melbs. Anyone got any cheaper recommendations around this way?

Re: What to get
Go for a 6R. It will get you out of trouble while you are learning to handle the new lease of speed and powerband. I can think of quite a few situations where if I was on a thou I would have been a smear on the road. The 600 is awesome fun - I have a 09 > great handling, brakes and nice midrange.

I have the same bike but never had any issue with mirrors? Wouldn't want them any wider or bigger.

Re: Frame sliders
There are 2 other central engine mounts so a jack wasn't needed.. easy install but when torqueing the right side back on I stripped the thread.. or so I thought. Took to Peter Stevens and they said it didn't require helicoil so not sure what happened there, but cleaned the thread and reinstalled ...

Re: Zx6r - Temps
Doesn't take too much traffic before mine hits 100. Always kicks in at 100 - climbs to 101 then down to 98 or so. Totally normal and happens more in summer but nothing to fear.

Just got some kaneg crash knobs. Is there a link out there on installing crash knobs on a 09 ZX6R. I presume it is pretty straight forward.. but pics will save me time.

Re: my ninja's idling issues
24,000 is when the valves should be adjusted.. the ticking will be the tappets a bit loose or worn - could also explain rough idle. Go get 'the major service' done.
