Post by Salty »

Just got some kaneg crash knobs. Is there a link out there on installing crash knobs on a 09 ZX6R. I presume it is pretty straight forward.. but pics will save me time.

If its anything like my '06 looks easier than it is... needed to remove radiator, needed a car jack to support the engine as the 2 fitting bolts are a major support to the engine but yeah straight forward just read the instructions (yes un Australian)

I guess it depends what mapping you go for as there are a few to choose from....

When i first got it installed the bit was very keen to get going and the fuel use showed it.......with the new gadgets the bike was very smooth right across the power band and after i got a map sorted that was a bit more leniant with fuel it was tried and proven through the hills of tassie.

I think they would be really good with the stock exhaust on and i would like to see how it would go with that but no chance of putting that back on hahah.....when u look at the prices and the gadgets with installation it can get a lil pricey so its good to shop around a bit.

There are 2 other central engine mounts so a jack wasn't needed.. easy install but when torqueing the right side back on I stripped the thread.. or so I thought. Took to Peter Stevens and they said it didn't require helicoil so not sure what happened there, but cleaned the thread and reinstalled. After doing that to my bike I read up how common it is to strip threads on the soft alloy, and would recommend anyone to get a workshop to do it (job easy, but install very easy to break it).
