my ninja's idling issues

Post by ezydeek »

aye guys,

my 06 zx6r is coming up to the 22.000km mark and i cant figure out why the bike idle is so rough and that ticking noise is shitting me, especially start after the fast idling. at teh moment the idle is high at around 1400 or 1500 cause if it get any lower, while im riding at the lights it sounds like it wants to stall. ive done the throttle bodies but its still rough then i had to change one of my coils cause one of them died on me. i use my bike to commute to work everyday and ive current have an pc3 installed with micron headers and yoshi rs5

so from i read up on should i

check and replace shims - will help with the idling
check/replace cam chain tensioner - fix teh ticking noise
remove the pc3 to see if the idle issue still there

any thoughts would be great

ive had the pc3 installed a few years ago and ran flawless at that time.. the idle was set alittle high but i didnt think much of it.
thought maybe it needs to be remapped again but i will do it if everything else fails

24,000 is when the valves should be adjusted.. the ticking will be the tappets a bit loose or worn - could also explain rough idle. Go get 'the major service' done.

+1 if your doing a lot of stop start running your best bet is to have the idle high because its not good for the valve train at low revs consistantly ;)
