The reason I ask is that my Z750 feels like it's sitting slightly low at the back since I put in a ZX14 shock. It's otherwise a huge improvement to the handling, but it feels like it's drifting wide on tighter corner exits more than it used to.
They look like they're the same length on the parts ...

Re: Fender elim!
Anybody have experience with those German TUV-approved ones that pop up on eBay? Something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kennzeichenhalter-Kawasaki-Z-750-1000-2007-2009-Devil-/150506278778

Re: leather vs. textile
I feel better in leather. Part of that is just because it looks better, but the feel of a heavy leather jacket is definitely reassuring.
That said, I break out the textiles for commuting in summer. I can deal with the heat during fun stuff, but labouring through summer traffic in cowhide is just ...

Work: I've got a desk job, after I shower and change I just shove whatever I'm not wearing under the desk.
Shops: If I've got my tailbag, everything goes inside and I cable-lock it to the bike. If not, I leave the jacket on, the gloves under the rider's seat and the helmet(s) hooked under the ...

Just because it looks cool, a CFD visualisation of the airflow over a BMW:

I think the surface colours represent air velocity (the 'hotter' the colour, the faster the airflow), and the red cloudy bits are turbulence.

Re: Has this been considered.....?
I think the main problem with bikes is that they're constantly changing position in relation to the road, so it's hard to engineer any kind of downforce that won't become create lateral force when the bike changes lean angle. Besides, any downforce you create mid-turn would act on the bike/rider ...

Don't have a digital pic of it handy, but it looked like this:

Suzuki GZ250 Marauder. My brother bought it, and it passed from him to me to my dad to my cousin. Then we sold it to a guy who wrote it off within a month.

Re: What pipe is this?
I bought my Ixil from Screaming Demon, was very happy with their service. Some of their other pipes look suspiciously like rebadged Ixil Xtrems (wouldn't be a bad thing by any means, just sayin').
A bit off-topic, but I asked both SD and Ixil about repacking, and both told me Ixils never need it ...

Thanks for the heads-up.
I have a pair of the Oakley wraparounds with prescription lenses. They're great in the day, but at night I'm stuck with my regular steel-frames which get a bit of wind buffeting. These Sport things might be just the trick.

Re: Police abandon motorcycle speed camera plan
The sad thing is that we shouldn't even be happy about the idea being scrapped - they should never have considered it in the first place. There were and are very good safety reasons why we (and the rest of the developed motorcycling world) don't have front plates. Now they probably expect us to jump ...

Re: Hints'n'tips thread
A water cooled bike will radiate heat if you turn it off at the lights all the time, potentially heating it up more. However, a water cooled bike should be able to idle in 40c heat while stationery without overheating. If it doesn't, then there is something amiss with your cooling system.
