Popping mono's (wheelies)

Post by theanimal »

Hey guys..... Just thought I should ask for some advice/pointers here... But I have started practicing popping mono's on my 250 ninja.... It's a pretty violent 1st gear pick-up..... I was wondering first of all what I should watch out for in terms of damaging the bike.... I.e. Blowing fork seals... But more specifically what things I will be able to notice before they completely shut themselves... Lol...

Cheers guys (and girls) :kuda:

I'd say the main thing to watch out for in terms of damaging the bike is...... DROPPING IT :kuda:

Further to my other post, if you wanna learn to mono just do it!

Don't worry about increased wear and tear, you may as well have fun while the sun is shining and deal with that later assuming you don't bin it (which was my concern while I was learning).

The only ill effect I noticed was that the triple clamps got a bit loose, but that may have happened anyways. Had them nipped-up no worries.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU GEAR UP WELL! unlike those numpies you see wrecking themselves on youtube

Ohhh nice save Tim. I was almost going to post up a stoppie pic that would of looked a little hypocrytical. ;)

I am happy no one has jumped on him yet as I have seen Alot of people on here do them or something similair.

As for OP the main thing is forkseals. Can imagine you flipping it to easily being a 250 and it sounds like your just doing power lifts not clutching.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Don't care much for doing a wheelie now but they can look neat.

Just go buy a 1000cc drop -2 front sprocket and hang on. :D :D

Thats not the point... he has a 250 & wants to mono it, kudos to the mono dude bduh.gif
anyway if you need to change gearing on a 1000cc to mono  fail :P

animal take yourself somewhere quiet like a deserted car park & practice dropping the clutch in second.

Actually, while we're on the subject of wheelies .... what's the penalty if you are caught? demerits and fine or is it more serious?
My Motard is a bad influence on me

Neg driving, 3 points and $400+ fine. It's better to not get caught.
