Hi all, i'm a new member with a 03 Z1000 i bought new, up until last week, unmodified with 16000klms. In the words of Bruce Buffer- its time!!!!! I scarily installed a fender eliminator with led's that fits really low just rear of the battery box. I'm now concerned i dont have enough freeplay area for the suspension if i have a pillion on? And i am totally unmechanically minded- this is the first time i've ever even cut wires! Have carbon engine covers in the post also. next- bar end mirrors?

Hi and welcome to the site, very knowledgeable and helpful mob here! Ok first off they are normally mounted using the bolts just under the ducktail not that far forward, the bolts that are just behind the tail light assembly and yes where it is definitely will interfere with suspension travel especially on our roads and probably a good chance of crunching in on the hugger and I can almost guarantee that the first of our local gestapo to spot it is going to write you up a defect notice.

I'd be more concerned with unwanted attention - no plate at the back (where Loubre said it should be) and hidden under there is a cop magnet IMHO.

In Queensland and Victoria you are some sort of outrageous criminal for doing that  - its so unsafe to have a fender eliminator FFS  Bllody Gumbyment - way off the mark as usual.

Nice bike too champ ;) :kuda:

A little more than not 'technically legal', more an eliminator under the rail does not comply with ADR and can get you a ticket. Putting it that far back may be conceived as hiding the plate and will come with a more stringent penalty!

Yep I would think you are right on the nail there, our local boys in khaki would probably construe that as a deliberate ploy to hide or obscure the plate! :)

Thanks all, I guess I better move it! Thats where the instructions showed me to mount it though. *** Now moved back under the ducktail to be safe from the 'gestapo'!

Anybody have experience with those German TUV-approved ones that pop up on eBay? Something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kennzeichenh ... 0506278778

Never seen one in the wild, though, so I don't know how dodgy it would look with the reflector attached. It'd be pretty useless as a mudguard, but then, so are most OEM fenders.
