For all you glasses wearers

I wear glasses. I have contact lenses as well, but find that on the bike they get dust into them within a few klms and my eye spits them out. So the only option is to wear glasses. Recently my puppy dog while playing with me, knocked my glasses off my face and they fell onto the edge of a floor tile. They are polycarbonate lenses, but are frameless on the bottom, so they chipped.

I had originally bought them from a website http://www.ozglasses.com and they have been brilliant. They cost me 180 odd dollars delivered to my door in two weeks, with photochromatic lenses and an anti scratch anti reflective coating. Bargain!

So, when I needed to replace them, this was my first port of call. As I couldn;t remember my prescription, I gave them a call, they read out my prescription and I logged onto the website to order a new set.

I bought a set for work which are trendy metal frames things. But, while searching for what style of frame I wanted, I came across the Oakley Sports glasses. Now these look exactly the same as the Oakley wraparound thingies that all the Lycra boys and girls wear, but, you can insert an optical lense! So I ordered a set. They came with two frames, two sets of optical lenses and 6 different coloured tinted lenses which sit in front of the optical lense.

All of this cost me $370 delivered to my door without any medicare/private health rebates!!!!

I tried the Oakleys under my Arai and they fit perfectly into a little recess in the liner, don't push against the side of my face and don't move around when the helmet is buffetted!!!!!!

Would have interested puja but she got lasik done last year when we went to India. Best thing ever. Her lenses were a nightmare!

Spose it depends on your prescriptions and what style contacts you wear maybe??

I find that glasses tend to 'shake' in my lid causing similar issues to high speed buffeting ie loss of focus on rough roads ....

I wear 14 day soft disposable lens's and have no issues at all . I can even ride with the visor up at low (under 110km/hr) speeds suprisingly enough.

One day the Lasik dream will be mine too though

I have a pair of the Oakley wraparounds with prescription lenses. They're great in the day, but at night I'm stuck with my regular steel-frames which get a bit of wind buffeting. These Sport things might be just the trick.

I bought these on a whim when I was buying a new set of glasses after the dog chipped mine. But, since getting them I have tried them in the helmet and in my Arai, the frame sits in this little recess and isn't impinged by the liner in any way. So they don't move or shake around, and they don't press on the side of your face like some glasses do. Also, if it get dark, you can either change to a clear lense if you carry them with you, or, just take the lense out and have the prescriptioon lense left in for the trip home.

I tried wearing contacts, but any form of grit and my eye spits them out. same if they get a little dry, the eye just curls them up and spits them out. I have had it happen mid turn and it's no fun. Water streaming across an eyeball with a half rolled over lense makes for difficult vision!!
