Re: Troy Bayliss experience

mm.. been a while since i posted on here - but don't they run a pillion session on the afterburner track day, which is the day after the superbikes are on at the island in march? at least, that was what i did a few years back when i still had the bike. after doing that two up session at the island ...

Re: Pillion + gear changes

I ride a z1000 (2010) so there is no problem with shifting 1st to 4th plenty of torque, and it sounds like a good idea for the next ride. Not really any grab handles for her though...

I use the rear brake a lot with her on the back, makes life much easier when coming to a halt.

She seems to be ...

Pillion + gear changes

Good to see.

What I do though after taking off from the lights is I get up to say, 60-70, then ease up on the throttle so forward momentum is almost nil, so any gear change is barely felt by said pillion, and then short shift from 1st straight to 4th (or even 6th), and then just use the torque to ...

Re: zx12r fuel economy

filled up on 3rd, think it was around 260km and put in 19 litres on the dot. this time i was using the thirstier and more direct route to work, several traffic lights as opposed to route 2 where there's only 2, maybe 3 sets of lights but is 5 mins longer and is a good cruise at 80 flat almost all ...

PICKY MECHANICS

I had issues with a shop when I sent my GSXR in for timing chain replacement, meant to be a two-three day stint, waiting on parts and all that. But it ended up being a month til they were able to get the bike running properly due to some blunder when putting it all back together in the first place ...

Re: Getting your knee down

warmers? shouldnt need them to avoid the tyres balling up like stu's does, it looks to me that the bike is being leant over but being held in the same spot and at the same speed through corners, and that generates an awful lot of heat in the one part of the tyre's tread.

as some people have said ...

Recommend me a Tyre

Vukie, based on your info I'd go with a pilot road 2 or a 3, either will be more than adequate for your requirements.

zx12r fuel economy

I also use 98 octane, never any less. Unless it's a servo out in bumf-k that only has 95.

Filled up on the weekend with 243 on clock, reserve hadn't started to blink and fill up was 15.2L.

zx12r fuel economy

It's an 05.

Basically a tractor compared to my old GSXR. But it's two wheels and goes around corners alright. :)

Power pure is overkill for what you want to do with your 636.

I'd go for a pilot road 2. Harder middle and slightly softer sides which are the equivalent of the pilot powers, for the corners. You'll find they're more than adequate for your needs.

I'd been using pilot powers on my old GSXR for ...

Re: Rear tyre for 12

i put a set of michelin road 3's on my loan zx12, i have to say i am impressed with how they are on the big zed, cranked right over, knee on the asphalt, tyres never wanted to go anywhere else through corners, feedback and high speed stability is very nice too. go the 190 rear though, will make it ...

wouldnt have a clue as to the time that an engine is run in, i guess that depends partly on how well you maintain the engine and how you treat the engine while youre riding. from memory i'd say i started seeing a gradual improvement in fuel economy after about 50,000km. ive had ...

Re: zx12r fuel economy

"smart riding will get you big kms out of a tank. bit like i was getting 320km to a tank out of my GSXR 1000 K6.. and that was going on 17.7L at the bowser with a few drops left... oh, and i believe 95,000km on the clock helps a lot too, engines only start to get run in about then... "

that raises ...

Re: Pillion + gear changes

Hey there, when riding with a pillion I have trouble changing gears smoothly! Not all the time but my wifey crashes into the back of my helmet on the occasion.

When riding by myself I have no problems making smooth changes.

Is it an issue that lots of people experience or is it just the pressure ...
