Re: Neighbours called EPA on me!

Yep, it was a warning. It said they had a complaint and if they got another they would bring my bike in for a thorough inspection, and if it was non compliant they would fine me heaps.

Got the Arrow pipe on, but the matching cat delete pipe was not in stock, so I had to put the cat back on. I've ...

Re: Neighbours called EPA on me!

I talked to Glen at Allfixed about my predicament. Apparently the EPA will go through me like a dose of salts if I get another complaint, they are getting really bad. So I'm getting an ADR approved Arrow system. It comes with documentation so I can prove it complies.

Neighbours called EPA on me!

Title says it all. I got a letter from the EPA saying someone complained my bike was too loud. It's a 2011 ZX10R with a mystery brand (maybe hotbodies) exhaust that came on the bike when I bought it at about 12 months old. The muffler is pretty much a straight though with an insert. Even with the ...

Re: Shorted stator. Other damage?

On the recall front, the bike was made in December 2010 so I'll have to check that out.

Keeping the stator cooler will definitely help avoid a repeat of this, so will look into it.

The good news I was able to get a stator yesterday. I've just fired her up and the regulator survived and is giving ...

Shorted stator. Other damage?

Hey all, I have a shorted stator and was wondering if there is anything I should check out before slapping in a new one and firing the bike up?

Re: ZX10R forks

The fork diameter at the top clamp is 50mm and 54 mm at the bottom clamp. I measured both above and below the clamps. This actually surprised me a little as I had never really thought about it before, but assumed that the fork tubes were the same diameter for their whole length.

I'll pull out my verniers tomorrow morning some time and get you the diameter of my '04 forks just above each clamp.

Re: Mad Max

I saw this coming down the link at work around half ten, so while I was having my morning coffee, I did some QA monitoring to make sure it was OK to play to air. No need to thank me. :P

Re: Riding All Year Round.

I've done it for years in Canberra and Sydney. Doing it somewhere warm like Townsville should be a doddle. Riding in the rain is an inconvenience more than anything. I have a rack and bag (which I would highly recommend over a backpack) that gives me plenty of room for wet gear and or a change of ...

Re: Buying my wreck back?

Well occasionally I'd get slack and let the service run out to 6000km, but more often than not I do the oil and filter every 3000km. It's led a pretty charmed life.
