Re: ZX7R - Common Problems
I second the #3 big end bearing, i have done 2 engines !!! also cracked a head... The alternator chain tensioner can fail with the plastic coating stuff breaking up and filling the oil screen with bits, easy fix though. if you are racing/track daying i would recomend pulling the engine, fitting new ...

Re: Fix up or Wreck and sell bit by bit?? Advice Needed
either way it sounds like it will not fetch you much cash. fyi i purchased a ZX7R with 70k for $2000 it had a slightly noisy cam chain and thats it. clean it and polish it up as much as you can, get it ridable and get rid of any rattles, vibrating bits etc. you never know your luck. if you don't ...

Re: ZX7R 1996 fuel problem
Before you replace the pump do the check i stated earlier, this is easy to carry out and will tell you straight away if your pump is stuffed. as it is only a 2psi switch in the pump you will have to disconnect the fuel line from the pump to the carbs. If the carbs are fully primed already the pump ...

Also use it in the Triumph and both cars. best to ...

Re: ZX7R 1996 fuel problem
Hmmm, i have the same model.... maybe you should remove the fuel line to your carbs and try it again. the pump should run, if you put your finger over the hose with the pump running the pump should stop when 2psi is reached. if the pump does not run with the hose diconnected your pump is stuffed and ...

Re: ZX7R 1996 fuel problem
Not sure if this will work on your model, worth a shot anyway, have the bike in gear and hold the starter on. the starter should not turn as the bike is in gear, however the fuel pump should run as it recieves power when the starter button is depressed regardless of the gear cutout switch. this will ...

Re: 03 ZX9-R won't change gears!!
Sounds like a broken pin on the selector drum to me. On the earlier models this was behind a cover that was behind the front sprocket, not sure on the later models though. was an easy fix on mine without engine splitting.
