I'd feel much better if one of you's take a look at it. Spoke to scott from mcas again. He found the braking while pushing it to be "reasonably normal". Yet braking while he rode the bike at low speed's around the carpark a bit slow to respond. Again maybe it is a big possibility that it could be psychological but he found something wrong with it. I couldn't stop with plenty of space in a relaxed state. So to be honest, I am not to sure. I would like to add pressing down on the rear brake lever stop's the bike much quicker then squeezing the shit out of my front. My front makes a grinding noise, rotor is smooth compared to the rear rotar. Before it never made this sound.

"Grinding" noise usually equates to metal on metal ....

Change front pads .....

Any one near my area? i could drop by. Don't want to put any one at an inconvenience. If your worried about the whole trusting the black fella(only saying this as most of you don't know me that well considering ive only been on 2-3 group rides). I am happy to meet you at a servo of your choice.

hope someone does, u really need to sort this out. than when u know its right, try and get someone to take u out and spend a hour or so learning to emergency stop it, pratice does make perfect, also get then to explain braking %ages.

I didn't think i'd need the practising emergency brake since i did well in the test for it. But hey I am open to it. Pointless being an overconfident cockhead and then regret it 3 weeks later when i've broken some bone's. I am down to take advise from more experienced peeps suchs as you guys. At this stage (it might be psychological) but i feel it requires more distance to stop compared to before, so i've changed my riding style to a grandpa doing 10k's under the speed limit and keepin a huge ass gap incase something fail's i'll have a better distance to react with it.

You've gotta work out if it's just in your head or there's something going on with your bike, otherwise you could develop some bad thought processes around braking.

So you really did a long slow stoppie? If so bring on the stunt career you're a natural :)

I used to do regular braking practice to develop the skill, pushing my limits going harder and harder it's surprising how much you can develop your braking, just ask Leanne if I brake late at the creek :)

I Actually tipped my gs500 over while practicing emergency braking and Glen had to come rescue me :lol:

This is something you should never stop practicing, i practice every couple of days if not every time on the bike and other drills to keep the mind fresh and focused as to what to do incase hell is calling. Just cause you passed it in your test means shit if your not going to do on a regular basis.

Ninja 250r's have a basic brake system compared to bigger bikes there good but you notice the difference stepping off 1 to the other, this maybe what scot from mcas was comparing to, if your not satisfied with it take it Castle Hill Motorcycles or Bikebiz or Hills motorcycles, and get them to look over it, education first yes but if there is something wrong and yoú put it off its your life your playing with.
How many k's on your bike 72xxkm? if thats the case you must really be riding your brakes something shockingly, if the pads are right down. i changed my 250r @ 18000km, and my 600 has 14xxxkm on it

I just read the rest of the thread, yeah like Ron said sounds like change pads time to start the process of elimination. Rear working better than front means there's something seriously wrong.

Could the pads be really 'glazed' or something so they're not biting properly?

Actually you know what it reminds me of, when my master cylinder was letting fluid through in the middle of the stroke only. Do a 'normal' brake and there was little resistance or braking and eventually the lever would come all the way into the bar. Grab a fist full and it would pull up perfectly. $40 master cylinder kit and it was fixed. Another idea.

Well they are the original pads that came with the bike im the 3rd owner 1st owner gave up riding after his misses pressured him into it. Second owner was forced to sell (asian parents told him not to go on the high way, he did and was pissed about selling it). got the bike at 2.5k kms at 7.4k kms. So almost 5k km's put on it by me. I used to be an early braker for the 1st 1k km's as i was not that confident. then it was late breaking. Now its really early braking. They are oem pads as i am told they wear heaps faster then aftermarket one's

With all the fuck up's ive been having, wont be long before i book in the advance course. I'd much rather get the opinion of you guy's first before i drop it of to glen to get the pads replaced, if needed, by the sound's of it, it does. Just concerned since the rotor's are smooth, would there be a possibility that might need replacing?

Yea, the guy from mcas did say something biting, as he felt it didnt feel right, his exact words if i recall were " it is not biting like it should & your front rotor's are way smooth compared to the back". At this point i told him about the front brakes making noise. He said it could be cause the pads might be glazed, only brought this up as i never had this noise issue before.

I cant help reading this and thinking nothing was wrong with the brakes at the time of the f-up. If the back wheel is in the air you cant brake any harder.

IMHO if you dont know what you are doing pay someone who does to get it right and stop beating around the bush. If it means a new rotor, pads, and a master cylinder then cough up and do it or dont ride the thing. Its not a light bulb or a dirty spark plug you are fixing here, it is the very thing that will stop you hurting yourself, or god forbid hurting some other innocent party. There could be nothing wrong at all, but this is the one area of your bike you should never second-guess.

Your signature is all wrong. The young and stupid dont make it to being old and wise. The young and alive do!
