Climate change
Re: Climate change
In-action / action
Is a completely different arguement to
Carbontax / no carbontax
The carbontax mechanism will provide no net reduction in emissions..
Your a naive fool if you think it will
It will only add cost and unproductivity to what little manufacturing we have left..

You need to get your elections right. The last election before they ripped the GST in they told everyone it was coming.....and they got reelected after it was introduced.....Geez they must have been bad eh?dickfaber wrote:oh really?!

Re: Climate change
Instead of taxing everyone, why not reward those who actually do somthing about reducing their emissions....seems more logical to me. However, logic and politics rarely work together in the same sentence.

Re: Climate change
Whether you believe in climate change or not isn't it wise to have insurance? I would hate to get 20 years down the track and say I wish we had then I am glad we did. Israel (Jews are smart fuckers they grow vegies in places they just shouldn't, don't mess with them) showed the earth was warming 30 years ago they referred to it as global dimming, it was not the sun getting it but heat not being released due to carbon blanket tha was keeping heat in. The same as if clouds come over in the afternoon it acts as a blanket and keeps the heat in.
Global warming is not about the world just getting hotter but about bigger extremes like the colder winters and wetter summers. Ocean temperatures rise which cause this, is it man made or not I guess depends on which side of the fence you sit on.
Carbon tax is backward thinking though and is not the way forward. If you compensate those who have to pay more than who will change their habits. Taxing polluters who can pass the cost on is about as stupid as it gets, a bit like taxing cigarettes, they are addictive and people will pay more regardless. A smarter and one that rewards ingenuity instead of punishing bad habits would be to offer tax free periods to companies that introduce carbon free solutions. EG a power company that uses coal pays the company tax, however if they set up a carbon free producing power station or similar instead gets a tax brake for 5 or 10 years, so they can recoup their investment without having to pay tax and that way no one has to pay isn't that smarter?

that is the funniest thing I have ever heard..how is an un-measurable impact the carbon tax will have on on carbon emissions will have insurance against climate change..keep trotting them out mate..Naked Twin wrote:Whether you believe in climate change or not isn't it wise to have insurance? Re: Climate change
Hoffy please read the whole post not just an extract. So you know for sure that climate change is not real as you read it on the internet? Why not present the facts as you know them why. A question - are we are or aren't we suffering from climate change based on research not just some uniformed opinion. I don't know for sure but what I do know is this -
1) the world is warmer than 100 years ago
2) sea temperatures are rising
3) natural habitat is decreasing and over the last 100 years more animals are now extinct than since the dinosaurs
4) too many people with nothing to gain monetary wise are saying we need to look at ourselves
5) the biggest polluters (shell and the like) have set up a climate skeptics fund, if that was a government funded organisation what would you say?
Don't be blind, be open and look at everything, I can guarantee if the government was saying the opposite the majority would say climate change is real, funny how we have predisposed opinions when it suits us
What I don't know is the current climate change due to humans or not, is it worth the risk to second guess?
If you read what I said it is neither for or against, I am saying is for some insurance, you don't plan on having your bike stolen but you insure it just in case it does. Being open minded is okay it doesn't rely on scare tactics or bought opinions
BTW if you actually read what I said, carbon tax is backward thinking, but hey why let facts get in the way

I wont be verballed..all you lefties do is verbal ppl..Naked Twin wrote:Hoffy please read the whole post not just an extract. So you know for sure that climate change is not real as you read it on the internet?
Climate change has nothing to with Cabon Tax..
One will not affect the other!!!
You claim some sort of higher knowledge that a carbon tax will save the baby dolphins and all that shit..
I will say it again, you cannot have a pro carbontax stance by justifying it will change the global or even aus climate..It wont change climate..it is not some sort of climate insurance..wake up from your coma dude..!!

Of course there is climate change..yesterday was hot, today cold..more rainfall than last year etc etc..
You are naive at best to think you can control climate with a tax..
Re: Climate change
You are completely naive..carbontax will not change any of the above..Naked Twin wrote:Hoffy please read the whole post not just an extract. How will Julia Gillards carbon tax save the planet? Answer ..
So your solution is to hinder private sector growth, ie..the ppl that employ a fuckload of australians for an un-measureable
Affect supposedly on the climate, i truly hope your are not in a position of influence within your organisation..
We all like to save, be green etc.. That has nothing to do with the carbon tax.. The CT is not appropriate action.. You fools have squandered enough of our precious dollars of late..

Re: Climate change
Did you actually read any of my posts on the subject? I said that the carbon tax is wrong, I agree with you that the carbon tax is a complete toss. It is a shame that you are so one eyed as it really detracts from an open discussion
If you chose to read all the posts rather than paraphrase you would see that what I did say is we should do something and that something was not to tax polluters but to reward those who come up with technology that reduces emissions.
The problem with this debate are the fools who go off half cocked because they have predisposed opinions and can't read, ignorance is not bliss

Re: Climate change
mate, sorry to get personal but you are trying to draw a parallel between the CT and climate change...they are two different and completely different things..I gotta shut this down because people are out there trying to justify the CT by sighting climate change..its just wrong..Naked Twin wrote:Hoffy please read the whole post not just an extract. Re: Climate change
The problem is people see carbon tax and go climate change is bullshit, we shouldn't correlate the two. They are no one in the same, it is simply someones dumb idea to combat what is supposedly climate change. Hoffy I agree that the carbon tax is bogus but I do believe we should do some "insurance" just in case. I am a skeptic but I am also a conservative, in that I like to have a little margin for error just in case I got it wrong.
Seriously look up global dimming it is actually quite interesting and was originated to explain the hole in the ozone layer had nothing to do with an increase in temperatures, thus was actually the precursor to global warming

Re: Climate change
You want insurance...? wtf is that...?
do yourself a favour, go to India and China, which BTW is keeping our economy afloat, and tell them you want them to provide you with some climate change insurance..they will tell you to get the fucking stars out of your eyes and grow up..they are trying to lift their standard of living from abject poverty to somewhat of an acceptable lifetstyle for their people, which will requiremanufacturing and development of their industry, thus emmisions..
also, you cannot put ppl into the 2 baskets of Skeptic and Non-Skeptics..this is common practice amongst the lefties to scare the fuck out of people by labelling them somehow accountable for climate change by being a Skeptic..We all want to use less power and be kinder to the environment, there a no 2 groups in which to distinguish people, that is all BS..
hows this for insurance, you and Bob Brown can go and live in a cave in Tassie with Gillard..thats bound to be enough insurance to save the world..
Aree you truly Naive enough to believe that in 100 years the UN is going to be standing around going, "Thank Fuk Australia started the insurance against climate change in 2012, they have saved mankind from certain extinction"...yeah, nah...
