Re: Climate change
Ah! of course if a video on YouTube says climate change is a scam it must be true
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_ur ... bXx0&gl=AU
There now this has to be true aswell its on YouTube after all...
Look at all the evidence critically then decide for yourself. Don't however look at the one video and think sure that sounds reasonable it must be true!
I watched a video which explained in a scientific way why evolution is impossible and how there must be a God, this certainly doesn't make me believe in any higher being. Look at everything critically and look at both sides of the story not just what is convenient! /rant

Re: Climate change
As an individual you aren't being taxed, heavy polluters are being taxed and rightfully so. This will have flow on affects that will cost us at the end of the day, without a doubt.
If you think its worth it is up for you as an individual to decide. If inaction is the right choice ill be fooked...

Climate change
Whether we as individuals think it worth it or not as you put it is irrelevant, the gov isn't giving us an option. Yes we aren't sing taxed directly. It as you say it will flow on down the line to the lowest point on the slide.... The individuals.
The tax we will be charged is going to make fuck all difference when you look at how much pollution Australia produces compared toothed countries like China and the US. Its also telling that barely any other country is signing up to Kyoto and what ever other 'protocol' the powers that be seeming want to sign us up to. I also think the other sore point with whole tax is the original promise of "there will. E no carbon tax under the government I lead" that was about the quickest ever broken promise in Australian political history just so that Labor could win and hold power with the greens. Do you think that Gillard would have done a deal with say a party like the shooters and fishers party to allow shooting in national parks if it meant that she would have won and retained gov? And before you say yes I know that the s&f are a state not federal party just using it as a polar opposite example.

Re: Climate change
Can't argue with that frank...
We are per capita one of the biggest polluters...
Of course labor bowed to the greens, should have seen that coming

Re: Climate change
Given that the earth has glacial cycles of between 40,000 - 100,000 years and we are only 20,000 years since the last glacial peak ie Ice Age does anyone not think that it is fairly rational to believe that the earth is warming and will continue to do so for probably the next 20,000 - 80,000 years for reasons totally outside the control of mankind?
What is irrational is the theory that man has any significant influence on this one way or the other. Still it's making a lot of "greenies" and "scientists" a lot of money.
What gets confused I think is the need to protect our environment and our various species as much as possible ( I don't think anyone would argue with that) and the need to impact global warming( which i think is the greatest scare mongering campaign ever launched)

so thats nothing like the promise made by the gnome in the late 90's that the GST is dead and buried, and will "never ever" be liberal party policy?Frank wrote: "there will. Re: Climate change
Why is it the experts can predict the temperature in 100 years but can get next week right??
In my opinion and this is only my opinion the tax is all arse about. The government is not trying to stop pollution or excess carbon dioxide they are just trying to profit from it. Why do cars and other registerable traffic have to comply with emissions rating but industrial engines don't?
surely if the gove was serious they would make it illegal to sell and use new machinery that does not meet any emissions rating at all. That would be a good place to start and then the users would be the ones paying not every one else.

The difference is they didn't go to an election saying that.dickfaber wrote:so thats nothing like the promise made by the gnome in the late 90's that the GST is dead and buried, and will "never ever" be liberal party policy?Frank wrote: "there will. Re: Climate change
So dickfaber the difference with the the GST and the carbon tax was that ultimately Howard went to the election with the gst on the cards and hence had a mandate, people still voted for him, actually enough people voted for the Liberals, knowing that it would bring a GST, that they retained government, unlike Labor at the last election.
Labor and Gilard went to the election saying there would be NO CARBON TAX then when it became obivous that they would lose power, they struck a deal with the greens and a couple of other independents, think pokies tax, to secure government. Otherwise they would never have, more people voted against Labor than for them at the last election.
