You can kit yourself out with reasonable protective gear, boots, gloves, pants, jacket for under $600 shopping around for specials. So stop making bullshit excuses and go get it before you end up dead. Go get insurance too at least if you have gear, while you're recovering in the hospital, the insurance can take care of the other person you put there. If you are still riding when you're 50, then you can stop paying it, as by then you may have half an idea what you are doing. The realities are that if knowledge of a bike is the size of our planet, your knowledge would fill a pin head. You don't even know what you don't know yet!

Dude, about the only correct statement you have made is "I wouldn't know" . That's exactly it, you don't know. My best suggestion is to utilise your eyes, your ears and your mouth in the correct proportions. Put in more simple terms, that means to.... Look and listen........ TWICE as much as you SPEAK! Get it!

Could not have said it better myself.
I have been riding for 18 months now and i am only starting to grasp the basics of the basics and have many years ahead to understand the rest. You really don't know your riding skill until you are put into a situation and see how you come out of it the other end. Of course there are times where the outcome will only be one way but skill and experience will hopefully be able to prepare you for it.

IT takes a life time to learn, and another lifetime to understand... thats why were all still learning... one thing i drummed into my students when teaching, no matter how long and how experencied u are, everydays different, so ur faced with a hole new set off problems....Rossco1 wrote:Could not have said it better myself.

Btw the compulsory 3rdparty you speak of only covers injuries of people you crash into. Not their vehicles. Lambo's can be exxy! And if you stack it into an insured vehicle. Heaven help you when the insurance company comes after you. Those fuckers don't make massive profits from letting you walk out of court with a pocket full of pennies.

Re: fitzy here and heres my baby
Just on insurance. Go and get yourself 3rd party property damage (not CTP that is compulsory anyway). We've had a few incidents happen to members here where they have been hard done by because some twat who crashed into them didn't have Third Party property.
I can't speak for everyone but I know a heap of people here who won't ride with you unless you've at least got third party, and I think that's perfectly reasonable.
Good luck, I hope you stay safe long enough to enjoy the experiences and mates that motorcycling can bring you.

I bought my leathers for 400 bucks from Bike Gear Warehouse. They also sell jackets, boots, and steel reinforced jeans for the 100-150 range or even less. They sell online, but they also open the warehouse on Saturday mornings from 9-12, so I suggest you get yourself down there, you'll be surprised what you'll be able to pickup for the money.
PS nothing wrong with HJC, great helmet, had several of em over the years.

Re: fitzy here and heres my baby
Mate don't be scared to get out to Ec on your 250, alot of people do it, everyone starts somewhere.
Its alot of fun chasing the big bikes down around the bends then getting hosed down the straight and do It all over again.
As far a gear, dragging jeans-$200, testile jacket-150-300, you can get ones that are summer/winter-the liner inside is removable
, boots- tbh I rode with steel cap boots for 2 years, buti recommend motorcycle boots even some good hiking boots or steel caps if your on a budget, better then your joggers, gloves- get them, wear them your hands are first to hit the ground
Get insurance, 3rd party property damage at the minimum, good on ya for saving some money, don't be stupid and blow it all on an accident!!!
This is just my opinion just like everyone else here, last thing we want to see from a fellow motorcyclist is another statistic!
If u don't like what I have said then
haha

Welcome Fitzy
You have potential.. 1st you bought green, 2nd you joined a really good club.
Personally I’d rather you be here than out there on your own finding your feet
Stay long, learn lots and age …

Welcome.
Mate I've read all the posts and I think that your just taking the piss.
If your not, then best you take heed of the ASSISTANCE being dished up by a very knowledgable bunch of riders on this forum and hope to still hear from you in a few months with skin & bones intact.
