Where's Neka, he was the mono king!

Yea..... I can get it into a mono easily enough..... By popping the cluth anyway..... I have tried without and reefing up on the bars..... But it's pretty pathetic... Like 6 inches off the ground at most... Lol... But with popping the clutch in first I can get the front wheel to around chest height at best... But can't hold it there very long at all... Like a second at best lol

Yeah mate, I don't think it really worth worrying about.

Get dirt bike and go nuts :)

Try looking at MCN's guide to wheelies on yoouuu tuuube.
Find a quite safe place and practice and practice and practice.

Good thing he left. We don't want that sort of shenanigans bringing the place into disrepute. :P

i'm all for a bit of hooliganism ..... but

the bike you're intending to learn on is not the best kit for the job unless you already know how to whoolie.

It only takes one decent drop to bend/warp/crack the frames on that model... as for wear & tear, you may be replacing fork seals, head bearings, chain, sprockets & clutches more frequently. if you can afford to pick up an old sacrificial beater or dirt squirter even better

tips if you proceed...

if you redline & dump the clutch you'll surely beat the hell out the bike.
Learn where your engine makes it's best power/torque, swiftly release the clutch as you shift your body weight back (keep your arms slightly bent and head level) and let the bike rise to meet you. (practice covering the rear brake) and do not SHUT DOWN the throttle, simply ride the wheelie back to earth.

Practice this first:
wheelie->brake->wheelie->brake->repeat->repeat->repeat!!! it will teach you body & brain where the brake is and will automate the action when you freak out (you will!)

Once you've got the feel for the front coming up and how easy it is to cancel out the wheelie, feel free to take it higher & higher until you can ride it for some distance... start small!

then once you're comfortable riding a wheelie seated... practice staggered stance (stand-ups) by left foot to rear LHS pillion peg (right foot RHS rider peg, covering brake) you will feel more in control this way and will slowly go from a crouched position (humping tank like many do) to extending legs and using your body to counterweight the bike and steer it.

I still maintain my opinion that no one can 'teach' another to wheelie.. info can be offered but you can't do it without doing it!

good luck stunta bro :kuda:

Slow your speed, then clutch it up, once at the balance point try not to rev it too hard. You can with practice keep it there. I have a mate who can wheelstand almost anything with two wheels and a motor. He used to do foot draggers at slow speeds on his 250 back in the days. Maybe try that. Or launching it off humps and bumps in the road. Best way is probably from a standing start. get it up nice and high and then balance it there without picking up too much speed as it might not have enough power to keep it up in 2nd for long. Have fun and keep your right foot over the brake pedal too!!! ;)

cheers for the advice guys..... yea i have found that around 20km/h..... and drop the clutch in (in 1st gear) @ around 7.5-8k rpm will get it about a foot off the ground (with clutch engaged in 1st.... 20km/h is around the 4k rpm mark)... tried one dropping the clutch in @ same speed but @ 10k rpms...... yea..... that scared the SH*T out of me!! lol.... front wheel @ about chest/neck height....... pulled the clutch back in pretty quick and came back down to earth lol....

You do realise that doing what you describe in the above post will make you look like a knob dont you ;)

My advice, I'd worry about learning to ride nfirst. Then worry about that stuff. I had been riding for 2 years plus before I started trying to do them. Basic skills first. ;)

Perhaps not such a good idea... My mate got caught wheelstanding last December... Had his court day yesterday... 12 month loss of license and 3 months suspended sentence on a 12 month good behavior bond... Plus fines... Plus court fees... Plus $1000 impound fee.... That's gonna hurt...
