Yeah i was just thinking that myself that 300k's has to be optimistic(but no doubt do-able)...

but the question originally came about due to a mate reminding me of one of my old rides:

a 94 yzf-750 highly modified - best (and i mean very best) 160k's from 17l tank.
won't mention worst.....

suffice to say...... wasn't particularly welcome on long distance rides....

The club I ride with here in Melbourne do an 'Economy Run" every year. They have rules to make it fair, such as maintaining at least the speed limit at all times. (It stops 2 things, 1. People riding at 60kph in order to win and 2.The ride taking 3 days to complete)
There are two distinct groups on the run.

Group 1. Those riding at the speed limit attempting to win overall.

group 2. Those riding the usual pace and attempting to have the lowest of the front group!!

I tend to not bother with even attempting the group 1 challenge, as I get bored 30 mins into it and go chasing after group 2 anyway!!

I like trying to win group 2, as it means that you have ridden at the pace with the lowest fuel usage, indicating you don't need to use the engine to go fast

Tank Size: 18 litres
Range in Suburbia: NFI, rarely ride for in the city, if I commute to work the part in stop-start traffic is only 10-20km.
Range in Woop-Woop: 19-21km/litre, depending on the fuel type, ambient temperature and type of ride.

Check my numbers too, I potentially could've gotten over 300km out of my best effort too....if I could've coped with sitting on the freeway at bang on 110km/h for 3 hours

Was on a freeway run, having to keep to the speed limits , had been filled to the limit and was searching for a servo for ages on the fuel light. Fill up was a 296km.

Best - 250km, last fuel square blinking for 15 minutes - running on fumes...
Worst - 170km, last fuel square blinking for 5 minutes - bike coughing...

I used to be able to squeeze about 300km out of the Black Pearl when she was new and fresh - that's with the stock square-tank, about 19l....

Tank - 19 L Reserve 4.1 L
Commuting 90 k's a day Hit reserve at 301 km today which would give me about 380 km's to a tank.
Normally hit reserve at about 275 kms.
Standard gearing so I will see how it goes next week after I go down one tooth on the front.
Could be the "Karma" screen working for me. Thanks Mal.

I keep a spreadsheet with breakdowns for main / reserve and charts etc for tracking totals for my fuel usage - doesn't everyone do this?

Fuel, book says 19L takes more like 21 when filled to the brim.
Reserve, approx 4 litres.
Round town range to reserve, 240 - 270km
open road, "quick" road riding range to reserve, 180 - 200km
open road touring i.e getting somewhere on dead shit boring motorways, to reserve, 300- 320km

I've not had it that long so I've not put that many tanks through it but it has worked out at about the following.

Tank is 18L (I think) with 4L reserve
Inner City: 16Km/L ( incl reserve 288Km / without reserve 224Km )
Hwy: 21Km/L ( incl reserve 378Km / without reserve 294Km )

Here's where registering on a website such as http://www.fuelly.com like i have, comes in handy.

Bike Model: 1997 Suzuki RF900 with +2 on the rear.
Tank size: 21 Litres
Range with full tank - highway: 270km
Range with full tank - suburbia: 240km
But i usually end u filling up at around 17-18litres and only extend that if i have to/don't have time ti fuel up before going to work, etc.

Bike Model: 1981 Suzuki GSX250
Tank size: 15ish Litres
Range with full tank (until just after i hit reserve) - highway: 270km
Range with full tank (until just after i hit reserve) - suburbia: 230km
The reason it's reverse is it is only a little bike and my last highway run was back and forth from Sydney to Wollongong over Mt Ousley and the little blighter had to work very hard to get ANYWHERE.

note: haven't run either bike "dry" to see what i can scrape out of them, at least not yet.
