re: FNPs' for Motorcycles
FNP have come up again, sorry Smitty but seriously that wrong the FNP issue and the Frontal ID have never gone away.
FNP's have been tested on 7 bikes actively now for the last 2 years, this is just an ongoing incident in the whole picture.
Before FNP's can be brought into Vic the rest of Aus needs to accept them and to date South Aus and Qld are not interested

I thought it was SA and VIC pushing for FNPs
when I saw the Qld Transport Minister say No way on the Teev
but never trust a pollie
can i direct you to here
where all the Transport Ministers agree and state that frontal ID systems for bikes will be implemented by June 06.....not long

re: FNPs' for Motorcycles
yeah i know all the blah blah on FNP's, at the last AMC meeting we had conformation the South Aussies were stationary on this issue and to date still are.
Victoria is the only state pushing this issue, and they are pushing it every chance they get.
FNP's now have been trialed here in Aus since 2001, Victoria ahve 7 bikes with FNP's and other states also are trialing Frontal ID which is a completely different story.
Last year we were told implementation by mid 2004, and yeap this year we are once again told by mid 2005!
Now FNP's can only come in if all states of Australia agree and currently they do not so as long as NSW, WA and SA hold out where larfing.
Here's the best part here in Victoria i was the only one playing this issue until i resigned from the MRA, since then no one has touched it. So free reign for the government.
The MRA now has no sway with the Gov, VMAC are not in the mainstream comunication on this subject and we have no one else. The Ulysses are busy with other issues and the NSWMCC are fighting the NSW RTA on more important subjects.
One last thing before i stood down from the MRA i posted almost everwhere another Gov document that stated FNP's need to be discussed heavily this year, it also showed FNP's are now and have been for a while a Federal issue not a state issue, so in stopping the FNP's Australia has to stand as one and the way things look where a long way from this.

re: FNPs' for Motorcycles
not my fault i never started it.
City Link are the one's who are raising this issue every chance they get, the documentation showing this is easily found and everywhere, also the study there going on is a 25 year old theasis by the Yanks which has now been updated by a Swede and shows there can and will be up to a 15% reduction in motorcycle fatalities with the introduction of FNP's
Now with the stats that have come from the four countries that still use FNP's it also shows speed related issues have been reduced by 45%
with stats like that how can a Government say no! But further more to that how much money does City Link stand to earn with FNP's?
These reports were looked at by the MRA last year just a shame they seem to have forgotten this information.
Remember another point to on failing with FNP's which i doubt will happen, Frontal ID will be introduced very soon afterwards.
Frontal ID has already been developed and is in the final testing stage now in England where it has past all tests. It will be possible to implement Frontal ID by November 2005.

I'm the former Pres Smitty, i took over from Alex now i seem to be there slander post, but that's fine not as if there doing anything of importance these days.
FNP's were to say my pet project Smitty, and still are to the point i relay with the Ulysses and other motorcycle groups on the subject.
It's on the books and always will be but FNP's is a Federal issue but i also said last year i believe FNP's to be a dead end issue or a media issue to stop people from understanding what Frontal ID is all about.
I believe FNP's will be replaced to quell the angry motorcyclists but Frontal ID will replace the idea and this is where the Gov will be able to earn revenue.

Musty,
Thanks for the info on FNPs. You mention Frontal ID a lot....what is this, how is it implemented, etc. I don't know what this is.
Thanks,
Tony

Musty, oh i never knew that was you!!! was that your resignation letter put up as a pdf all across the net? (i remember the letter pretty clearly, considering how long its been since i read it).
This FNP thing has been going on for ages, but as you said everyone is either too busy or just sweeping it out-of-sight-out-of-mind.
I'm wondering at which point citylink/vic govt will give up, before or after putting legislation in place to impliment a 1/2 arsed sollution. I'm hoping before. You think that it's something that has to be introduced federally, not just in state govt? yeah i guess so, now im going to just start talking to myself.
blah blah blah unreasonable blah blah blah money grabbing bastards blah blah blah......
