I read this and thought wtf!! Whether it's heavy traffic or not, if someone wants to reverse park into a parking space they have every right to. So you have to wait a few minutes, big deal. Sorry myk1979 but you're the one with bad manners in this case.myk1979 wrote:AARGH!!! That is the worst..........KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING....it's not rocket surgery!
Also the people driving in heavy traffic who just HAVE to reverse park into that parking space and hold everyone up around them while they struggle to reverse park the smallest car in the world into an average size parking spot! In heavy traffic, if you can't drive straight into the space then MOVE ON!! I have a little trick that works EVERYTIME, when i'm driving the truck and they pull up to reverse into the spot i simply pull up right behind them, blocking the spot completely and forcing them to find a more suitable parking spot

MYK1979... I look forward to road raging you in future.
Aside from people who have no idea about the road rules, a lack of courtesy is the most maddening thing out on the roads.

Re: Road rage
Agree about plain manners on the road. Also one thing that shits me endlessly with the right lane hogs is when they go 2-3 abreast and there is *NO* option of changing lanes to get around the f*#&$(ers and you have to sit there like a twat waiting for the 5cm/second creeping overtake from the car in front of you. The only place i've ever seen the keep left unless overtaking work is on the freeway stretch from Heathcote down towards Wollengong and beyond. And you can notice the abilities on that road go to shit on long weekends and at the start/end of school holidays as all the wankers from other regions fuck up the general concencus of staying the hell out of the right lane unless you need to be there.
Another thing is less than 1 in 4 people (conservative estimate) know how to merge, or at least WILL let you merge. The whole "i can't let you in front of me" attitude is sickening and shits me the hell off. in NZ they mention merge like a zip. I swear i've seen pictures of signs demonstrating this on tv, but a search on the net and the NZ dept of transport hasn't shown these signs in any shape or form.
The funny thing is if we weren't such self serving pricks out there and try to be courteous of others (or at least try to make sure anything you do doesn't negatively impact others)) then EVERYTHING would flow a hell of a lot smoother on the roads.

Re: Road rage

Sorry, but if i can't drive into a spot in those conditions then i move along till i find another spot to park where I'm not holding everyone up. When you go for your heavy vehicle licence they teach you how to drive in a manner that doesn't hold other road users up unecessarily, whether it be parking, merging or accelerating away from an intersection. But to clarify earlier comment, i usually only use that trick on ppl who have either crawled along at snails pace searching for a spot, or cut me off changing lanes trying to dive into the spot from the far right.

Re: Road rage
Well, that's ok then, lol.
I was imagining some harrassed mother trying to get her sick child to the doctor, finding a miraculous spot right outside the surgery and having the truck behind her blocking her access !!
One whinge from me is when riding along 1 lane road with some arsehole tailgating me, an overtaking lane comes up and he doesn't decide to go around me until the sign to merge comes up, last minute dash to overtake and surprise, surprise no room so I end up in front of them again while they keep tailgating me.

Re: Road rage
seems like they everywhere!!
Same happened to me many times, the usual coming to an intersection trick then some deadbeat is looking the wrong way and just pulls out, once they discover u r next to there window and realised they werent looking they shit themselves!
One that really brings my piss to a boil is when u want to reverse park, and not being sexist here, but u will get some middle aged women in a new Kia or something similar, u leave the idicator on and slow down, making it clear u want the park space, u stop slightly forward and they stop hard up your arse! ARGH!
For some reason i just fucking lose it and then they sit there and looked either like a Stunned mullet or start giving you lip, then they try to back up and all the other cars are hard up there arse also!
Another cage story was, i was in my cage pulling out of an intersection from the car park and there was an old lady and a young lad about 20 or so coming to wards me, i could safely say at least 50m away travelling at about 20km's. I pulled out at a slow pace to be careful and i kid u not, they sped up to where i was, got hard on the brakes then the little shit had the nerve to stick his finger up at me, as if i just ripped in front of them. I hit the stops and getting out to give them an ear full, but they sped off!

Re: Road rage
If I am pulling up to park, or into a driveway, with traffic behind me then I will indicate, slow down deliberately and put my left hand out to signal very clearly that I'm abotu to do something that their shitty little brains won't be able to cope with unless they have this prior warning.
I nearly got run down every day for a month when I first got this new job, as people simply weren't paying attention.

Funny how anyone going slower than you is a prick, and anyone going faster is a maniac. It's all relative. Everybody needs to take a chill pill out on the roads. Just mellow out, stop trying to jump the farking que and STAY THE FUCK OUTTA MY WAY

I have often said newbie cagers should spend a bit of time in a heavy vehicle prior to being letting loose on the roads.
If there is a plus , at least you get a pretty good survival average in a heavy vehicle as opposed to on a bike given the same idiot factor / situation!
Ie people who think cutting in front of then coming to an abrupt stop [cause they NEEDED to get THAT parking spot!!], people changing their minds as to which exit mid roundabout , people reversing out of angle parking at speed then deciding to actually look for oncoming traffic [ my favourite !!]
In these situations on a bike you are pretty much toast unless pure luck is on your side!!
In a heavy vehicle they are the toast !!!
Another example is the amount of times I have had morons [male and female] try to merge into the lane I am in completely unaware they are trying to fill a space occupied by a 12.5ton truck till they either spot the 22.5's turning next to their earholes / actually glance off you!![No I don't stop either!!]
Unfortunately there always has been and always will be morons on our roads [though now we have cell phones/GPS and PDA's etc]! That's just a fact of life we need to negotiate as best we all can hopefully unscathed!!
Ride safe and keep alert peeps

Sounds very similar to an incident I had years ago , except numbnuts actually sped up nudged the rear of my carGosling1 wrote:
I am travelling a bit quicker, towing an empty trailer. I move into the left lane (its a 2-lane roundabout), and pass this asshat on the left as we exit the roundabout - still 2 lanes for another 100m...

My pet hate is people who park in loading zones. There's a little street I have to get into, and I usually have something stupidly heavy to deliver, and they park in their bmw's etc in the bloody loading zone
I'd really really love to hit them... I may or may not go reasonably close in the truck to worry them a little
(thats when i can squeeze in behind them or in front)
I'm about to start lessons to get a HR licence... now that I think will be fun

Re: Road rage
At bike parking zones I've seen a number of times - both at West End and Milton - cars parked across half a dozen marked bike spots. I make a point of taking down the registration details of the car in case it damages my bike, and making sure that I park it in... I'm not rude and don't lack courtesy but if you start it you fucking deserve it

ENJOY! It's a bit daunting at first but once you get the hang of a road ranger box you get a pretty good sense of achievement, I loved it once i got the hang of it. GOOD LUCK!!!ttc wrote:I'm about to start lessons to get a HR licence... now that I think will be fun

My pet hate is when people cut YOU off, so you honk them, then they act all offended and give you the finger...
The world is round. It has no point.
Re: Road rage
What about the dilatory bastard who is actually doing the right thing and staying in the left lane at 70 or 80 ... UNTIL he gets to the sign that says Left Lane Ends - Merge Right. Then he proceeds to shift himself directly into the right lane at the same speed.
Usually without looking, or indicating.
Of course, when you come upon this at about 100kmh and thinking you still have 500 metres ....
Then there was the woman who did go all the way to the end of the lane ... and just kept going, despite the taxi that had been trying to overtake her - as she sped up to block it - and I was behind said taxi on my bike. I had a brown knickers moment when the taxi braked.
