Relatively flat hey? No flatter than the viewing areas located at other areas around the track Jason??? As to access, there are more than one gate where families can access the track! Other areas also have good access to Toilets, Food, Alcohol?aardvark wrote:It's relatively flat and easy to access for those with families, there's plenty of room, it's close to loo's, booze and food and it offers the best view of the track.Strika wrote:While on the WSBK subject, could someone enlighten me as to what the attraction is in locating the KSRC crews at Turn 1?????I am sure there is a logical reason, but I am obviously just a bit thick and don't get it!

I was amazed at how better the view was at the track from different parts of the curcuit, you dont see any up close action from back on the hill on turn 1.
I would support a change of location to turn 11, the best possie for watching the action on track IMO.

Yeh, personally; I like to walk the entire track, and visit the many different viewpoints - for me, the best pics are from in/out of the corners.... but hey, that's mehoffy wrote:I was amazed at how better the view was at the track from different parts of the curcuit, you dont see any up close action from back on the hill on turn 1.

Bottom line is............
it's where we are (turn 1) , If you don't like it there - you can go elsewhere and come back after the race
as most of us do like to wander the track
But it has been our reference point for years.
I admit to thinking the same thing when I first visited PI because I preferred viewing from directly opposite - just before lukey heights. I do like the fact that I know where the rest of the crew will be when I need to hook up for a beer though

I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

Re: Bar SBK Rip off
Where else on the track is as flat and offers the same amount of space to spread out? All of the other locations (ie turn 11) are overcrowded, have ridiculous banks built up on them, the distance from the trackside to the back fenceline or road is limited or is wedged between grandstands.Strika wrote:Relatively flat hey? If you really, really want to watch the racing then you need to be on the fenceline and this means getting there well before the gates open.
Actually, if all you are interested in is watching the racing, then stay at home and watch it on the fucking telly.
I'd probably sit where-ever the general consensus is but if I didn't like it, I'd probably pay for an over-priced ticket in the bar... actually, may as well stay at home and get what I'd paid for.

Re: Bar SBK Rip off
Jason, I wasn't asking to debate where is the best place, I was just asking as to WHY we locate at turn one. But as you asked, there are flat areas at turn 12, and turn 11. The exit of MG has an area just as flat as turn 1. The exit of Siberia also has an area which is just as flat and capable of housing us all, as are the others I have mentioned. The exit of Southern Loop, or on Southern Loop also features a flat and expansive area with great track views.
And Rossi, as you are aware, I can and do choose to wander the track during the day and view things from other areas
. I also spend time with the various KSRC Crews during the day.
All I was asking is why we locate there? I thought perhaps there was a logical reason, but you appear to consider tradition as a motivating factor! Are you aware that, hypothetically speaking, if we did locate somewhere else, that the new place would become the reference point when you want to hook up for a beer?

Re: Bar SBK Rip off
For those of us with a bit history, we did try a few other spots, but there were crowded and as we grew we ran out of room. Turn 1 had about the best viewing area of the overall cicuit and you can see almost from the start line to around the top of the track. Yes at a distance but I believe you can see more of the track from there than most other spots, with space. They also have a big srceen there for the GP's, unfortunately they moved it for the supers...
Turn 11 is good for close up viewing as is a few other areas, but you can only see about 3 or 4 corners, not good for watching the race but OK for close up action. Hence the previous suggestion, walk around for practice, but turn 1 for racing..
As you may have noticed from the last supers get together the event is as much about socialising as it is the racing (more so in some cases)
Were we are we have plenty of room to spread out, hang banners and expand...
especailly for those of us with families..
But, as is the case with all things KSRC its open to suggestion and the majority will rule...

Re: Bar SBK Rip off
I think Turn 1 is ideal for a 'base', as we all tend to drift around the circuit during the day anyway, and we would still be doing this even if we relocated the 'base' to say, Turn 11 or Siberia, or anywhere else really....
These are the main things I like about Turn 1.
1. Food - its way close to the good caravans for decent tucker.
2. Grog - yes you can get grog in a lot of places around the track, but its less of a wait here ( no idea why )
3. Dunnys - greatest toilets known to mankind.
j/k, but at least they are *close*.
4. Money - the ATM is located only a short walk away in the visitors centre - which BTW has the cleanest dunnies and the best hamburgers anywhere around the track......
5. Big open area to muck around in - Can you imagine if we all tried to squeeze up into a space at Turn 11 and carry on with the same shit up there ???
6. MILF's. The best MILF's hang out around Turn 1.
7. Its only a short stroll up to the Bike Expo.
I like the idea of cruising the track outskirts during the day, to get a variety of viewing spots for different events.

Re: Bar SBK Rip off
thats another reason I prefer the WSB to the GP - the weather.
I have to say that in 3 years of WSB attendance, this years was just *fantastic* from the day we turned up. On raceday, it was 30deg, hardly any breeze, shorts and T's only, and plenty of SPF30 !!
October on the Island can be very cold and windy..........but so can March, I guess we have been blessed for the last few years ??
