Sad to see us turning against each other. I have noticed the riding culture changing over the last year. Less nodding to one another, more bickering amongst the ranks.

We are a minority- let's stick together. ;)
Minority Shminority, bike riders can be brainwashed sheep just as much as the next man/woman.

Im enjoying watching Stix dig himself out of this hole.

biggles08 wrote:That sounds like police harassment to me! Targeting bikers like they are all criminals! I thought the police were bad here but if this happened to me over in NZ, I would politely (or not so politely) ask if I was being detained for anything illegal and once he/she said no, I would explain that I had somewhere better I needed to be and bugger off! That is bullshit IMHO and I for one would make an issue of it (most likely at my peril I'm guessing).
Being from NZ myself I can tell you that in Auckland we had it sweeet.... Never ever got harassed on my bike over there.... Over here i have been pulled over at least 5 times in 4 years

As with the ACA and TT comment I was being sarcastic and merely meant that these shows promote public hype in unsubstantiated claims to do with matters such as speed cameras being un-callibrated and therefore innaccurate. These shows do not base their claims on any fact. however the public views it and the majority take it as gospel.[/quote]

So last year, when the Media made the Victorian public aware of things like a Datsun 120Y being issued with a speeding fine for 170kph in the Burnley Tunnell, and the vistorian government then had to recind millions of dollars in fines due to incorrect operation of the recording device, that was all hype was it QS????

I have a good mate who is a Vic copper. He uses descrection. Perhaps QS you could look the word up? 8)

The QPRIME integrated policing solution will comprise:

* QPRIME - a Commercial-off-the-Shelf law enforcement information system, Niche RMS, being supplied by Niche Technology Inc., Canada, which will enable all police incidents to be recorded and managed in a single system;
* QPRIME Analysis - a suite of reporting and Information Analysis tools which will enable police to easily access and analyse information held in QPRIME; and
* QPRIME Mapping - a mapping and Geographical Information System linked to QPRIME, which will enable police to map incidents, places of interest and policing boundaries.
* QPRIME Consumer - a mapping and Geographical Information System linked to QPRIME, which will enable police to map shortest routes doughnut shops, McDonalds and establishments offering discounts to staff.

No that was fair enough, the hype came from the incinuation that EVERY speed camera was innaccurate.

Regarding discretion, read one of my posts on page 1 that covers that. I said in certain circumstances yes use discretion, however each situation must be taken on its merits.

Nah mate thats old school we dont have quotas anymore, we can give as many as we want!!

As for demerits and discretion, its advised that there must be extenuating circumstances for warnings or other non formal action being taken with respect to offences involving loss of demerit points.

I'm guessing 'extenuating circumstances' doesn't include situations like driving/riding at 140kph in a 110kph zone - but ensuring its done so completely safely...Mr officer? (at least not in your books anyway).

No it includes things like a pregnant woman being driven to hospital doing 140 in a 110 zone.

I cannot see a situation which would enable a road to be legislated at 140kph no matter how good it is. The truth of the matter is that most people cannot cope with this type of speed. I see it on rides all the time. People fatigue quickly at this sort of pace, and as I rate most riders as more competent than there tin top peers, I doubt most could handle it for any given length of time without detrimental effects to rational decision. The problem is, if you allow the limit to be set on say a perfectly acceptable highway at 130kph, it might not mean you don't "Have" to do that speed, but try telling some young inexperienced testosterone filled teen with his Provisional licence that he is not capable of that!!! He's gunna tell you he's 6' tall and bullet proof!! I know I was at that age! Now I'm just rubber band proof!!

The other issues are vehicle capabilites. There are some cars in which I wouldn't want to do 140 kph, no matter how good the road!!! I find cars, good or bad, old or modern unless specifically set up for it, don't handle all that well at speed. They roll about on the suspenders and wallow, with terminal understeer followed by, for the most part, terminal oversteer!!! 8)

What I do think is wrong with the way laws are enforced is the spirit of the law! I am sure whoever wrote the speed limits in the first place didn't do it with the intention of nailing drivers for 2 klm over the limit!
If our ADR legislation states vehicles must have a max speedometer error of + or - 10%, then the speed recording devices should be also given such tolerances. Or, make the manufacturers responsible for accurate speedometers!

I see no danger, in daylight, on a clear dry day, without other mitigating factors in running 10kph over the limit. I really cannot see how this is a danger in the correct circumstances. Nor do I believe doing 280 kph along a stretch of open road, with a smooth flat surface, fully fenced with visibility stretching for kilometres is dangerous to anyone other than the rider!

If I were able to, I would have the police looking at common sense shit, like when dickheads do U-turns in the middle of the black spur, in a truck with a trailer in tow!!!!! Or fuckheads that change lanes without looking, let alone indicating!!! Like fucksticks on mobile phones! And wankers who can't stand people passing them so they speed up as you try to pass, then slow down once you don't make it around them!!!!!
