Re: Your KAWA obsession story
i wasnt biased as a kid... wasnt till i saw a zx6r (99) in green and i fell in love with it.... my last 2 bikes were honda's, but ive loved the z1 and the zx10r since they came out...it was only that i had the cbr and got it at a BARGAIN.... the reason i had a cbr- cos i didnt want an R1 or gixxer, and the zx9r was too much bike for me!!
wouldnt say im obsessed....... im just a fan of underdogs..and i like wot kwaka do!!

Re: Your KAWA obsession story
The formula for my obsession is ..
1 cup of A father who still has his bike which he bought from the showroom in '78
2 table spoons of fond memories being picked up from school, going to footy or GP on the Z
1/2 lb of getting into later teens and watching Gobert sliding that 7 to oblivion and other talents like Akira Yanagawa in WSBK
3 teaspoons of just general appreciation for their colours and styling of the machines.
2 cups of total admiration of a manufacturer consistently punching above their weight.
1 good handful of utter distaste for HDs
With that said though; I've owned 2 Yamis, 2 Kawas, & 1 Honda. I wouldn't rule out ever buying another Yamaha especially if its another dirt bike but heart will always remain green.

phark, you had one of those to ? was that the one with the carb hidden behind the right hand engine case?Glen wrote:My first bike was a Kawasaki 75
The most bulletproof bike I've owned was a Kawasaki KS125 which I run totally out of oil and seized out at Menai. Pushed it back squirted some gear oil down the plug hole, mixed some used sump oil into the fuel and it went for another two years until I sold it.
it was my first bike when i was about 14 or so, still had lights, etc and I used to ride it everywhere after school when the folks were still at work, had more than one run in with the local coppers but they were usually pretty good about it.
Since then its been kawasakis except for a year long love/hate relationship with an aprilia and a spada as a commuter.
I may one day buy another brand again, but I will always have a kawasaki in the garage.

Re: Your KAWA obsession story
totally obsessed since I bought the Black Pearl back in the early 80's......but I do have a soft spot for Yammies as well, have a few RD's in the shed....
- Only owned 1 Honda, wish I still had it (first bike
) - One of my close mates bought a Z900 when I was still belting around on an RD350B, compared to his Z the RD was just a toy......still fast
, but a toy nevertheless......I got the Pearl only a few months later....
But its the Team Green H2R's, Gregg Hansford, Ron Toombs etc that really sealed my obsession with the big K.
