My name is Bill and I bought a 636 D a little while back.
I've been lurking for a while, keeping an interested eye on the Hardcore Canberra Crew, as I'm yet another inhabitant of our (currently frosty) national capital. It certainly makes a bloke carefully evaluate just how badly he wants to go for a ride when the temperature is down into single figures (or less)! Been idly wondering if at least part of the reason the HCC is 'hardcore' is because said core is frozen solid?
I've been messing about with bikes since I was a little kid in the 70's and developed a fondness for Kawasaki's after I bought a GPz 900R back in the mid-80's. My most recent bike (before the ZX-6) was a '97 ZX-7R, which I scratched through the twisties around Sydney (where I was living at the time) on most weekends until about three years ago, when it came time to sell it when I went overseas for an extended period.
I thought long and hard about which bike to buy this time around, but I'd had a long-standing liking for the ZX-636, which a few test rides on different bikes did nothing to dispel. The only other serious contender was a ZX-10, but I reckon the full capabilities of a -10 are mostly well beyond what this average mortal would usually ever use on public roads.

The pic is a bit crappy, I've spent more time riding it than looking at it if you know what I mean, but you get the idea. I'll be keeping an eye out for any rides that come up locally, although right now I'm planning a run up to Queensland - Brisbane and maybe beyond - in the next couple of weeks. If that doesn't get me and the -6 thoroughly acquainted, nothing will! Can probably call me iron-butt by the time I get back, though!

Cheers, Bill
