Ok seeing as neka has effectively hijacked this thread anyway, I don't feel so bad...

Discounts should really reflect the relationship you have with the customer, or want to have. Sure, don't discount a once off can of chain oil.

But crikey, when I pump a couple of $k into a store on accessories alone (not to mention the bike) in a couple of months, I kinda think a discount isn't too much of a stretch. They spent heaps on advertising to get me into the shop in the first place, so the sensible thing would be to retain my custom. And yeah, I keep going back, no matter how inconvenient for me.

I have heard of a similar line but it went,
We are here to make money, not friends, if you want a friend get a dog, just in case I got 2!

In the end the customer is still always right, & they are paying our wages, BUT that doesn't mean they HAVE to be rude or get the shits if we can't move on price if it's on special/discounted old stock etc etc, in saying that, I remember buying a leather jacket with my GF @ a bike shop around Caloundra & I think it was just shy of $400 & I said to the guy serving can you do anything better on this price (paying cash) & he straight up says NO, it's the price listed. NOW that shit me, if it was me I'd say I will have a quick look & see maybe if I could even knock $10 off it, geez I would be happy if I paid less than what was marked on it & it's not like it's only a $20 can of chain lube. At least lie to me & make me think you at least tried to help me. It generally doesn't cost anything to make someone a little happier by being friendly & helpfull, plus it might give the salesperson something to do.

Geez I dribble some shit huh?
Hey Neka where do you live/work?

mate im in adelaide..im struggling to get a deal like that...best i can get
is $18 an hour plus commision...fulltime manager...tho theres talk of a rise
to $20 an hour wen my 3month review is up..award is only like $15 an hour,
so i consider it ok...
i dont need to drive anywhere, i dont need to call ne 1..so no phone or car,
tho the bosses idea of looking after us is picking us up in a limo, and
taking us to one of the hardest to get into, pricey restaurant in the
adelaide hills, then paying for us to eat & get wrecked...
good bloke really...
plus hes offered to stand in court & tell em i need a licence for my job,
after me being there only 5 months..TOP BLOKE

Ok, got the bike back from the Toowoomba Yammy dealer today...

Well, yeah, they were ok. And they matched the MCAS price on the Arai NR5, so now I have a new helmet...

Service was a bit less than expected, he didn't find much wrong, and I did give him a fair list of things I wanted checked. Biggest problem was one cylinder cutting out on idle/low revs. Gunk in the carby. That explains a LOT...

Not a lot RG did some tyre kicking at City Yamie & test fode a couple of scoots before i purchased the "tiggr". No bad experiences with either though. Think Yappa has a mate that may work at moorooka Yamie.

I went into Moorooka Yamaha a few years ago after a helmet - chappie tried to sell me an R6!

G'luck, mate!

Noyes Honda in Ipswich is a no-go zone for me, but Edwards Motorcycles is tops. Never fails to give me a discount, quite happy to sit and yarn/give advice/etc.

I saw that this thread started a litle while ago, but i think I have something to add to it..
I rang up a certain well known dealership in Moss st looking for parts for my helmet when i broke it and the guy was quite rude, talked to me like an idiot and overpriced the item by $70. i went back in there on another day and talked to the salesman, told him what happened and they double checked and the guy basically had been full of sh*t.. I wish i rememered his name..
Lisa, wazza wan't like that at q ride with me. I told him i wanted a big bike, and there was 6 of us and he said who wants to ride the virago and i said no bloody way!! i would have told him to stick it exactly where it hurt if he'd said something like that to me..
When i started having trouble starting my fizzer, i went to the import centre in moss st and asked them who to take the bike to. They told me Tony Bogaart, so i did and he got the bike going for me, but said i had to take it back in for more work as it hadn't been looked after properly. That i did, he fixed the shims, serviced it and went over it and fixed everything he could for just over $200 bucks. I took my zx6 there last week for it's major 12000km service, he replaced the air filter ($80) and it was still $100 cheaper than kawasaki quoted me.. he has my business..
I can't recommend the guy highly enough, he cares for the bikes, he cares for the customer and he cares for my back pocket too!

:( got the zzr600 from City Yammie and drove a good price out of 'em. they weren't too happy and were pretty keen on me doing a service there..big mistake. It was a major service (24K) with shims and fork seals, fork seals they did OK, the shims.. well my current mechanic did the 36K service recently with shims and said that the head had never been taken off since manufacture. Also they gave me the bike without an air filter which i didn't discover till six weeks later.

ok my turn,Ibought my bike from midtown and think that upon buying the thing they will attempt to get it right for me so we stood at the dealership door and i said ok so are you going to adjust the suspension for me and he looked at me curiously and i explained further that for it to work the springs have too be adjusted (preload)to suit the rider and they should have at least 30mmsag front and rear when i sit on it.

The salesman said "I am not a racer"and off you go and also "watch those tyres there slipery",well the rest of this story is history with the bike going over about 5 minutes later because of the green tyres but also because they where inflated like rocks and the springs had no give so there was only one thing that could happen.

So we can safely say that the salesman is only interested in getting it out the door,a lot of shops would be the same in this but i think part of the predelivery should be setting up the suspension to a degree and makeing sure the rider is ready to go..I also believe that they would have had a hard time getting 30mm sag out of it anyway as its still way to hard for how i like them and i know a stiff spring isnt necesarily better than a soft one. :( :( :(

To put all that into context I find their spare parts counter quite ok and their accesories section also very good just the whole handing over the new cycle thing was quite extrordinary and could have been done quite a lot better than it was.

Oh yeh plenty of cheap parts on ebay and we really pay through the nose here but i supose that is just a retail thing really. :D :D :D

I also forgot this bit but its probably a lot easier to read broken into bits,if there is actually something wrong/broken onyour bike that needs fixing go to lae raceing at geebung alex and sam know their shit about the fixing of the bike and i give them a five star rateing,I do all my own cable adjusting and oil changeing but whenever i have taken a bike to them for actual fixing(down on power/suspension work)it has come back screaming/handles on rails they would of course do mundane service work as well. :prayer: :prayer: :prayer: there actualy better than three gods so heres a couple extra :prayer: :prayer:
