Ive only had 'real' experience with 3 dealers. 2 was to buy a bike with servicing and the other is were I get my tyre's from. The 2 bad ones are Kawasaki dealers so umm, yeah. I can't really complain about Midtown, they have been pretty good apart from not filling in my service log book and not servicing my bike to standards it should have been. The other is North Coast Kawasaki in Maroochydore which I would never ever deal with again. It took them 2 months to fix my bike after its accident and get this 3 months to get in a replacement sticker for the windscreen. They were gonna charge me $14700 for a 2004 ZX6R with 2000km on the clock and even though I told them Midtown had them for $12990 brand new they wouldnt bring the price down at all. Those two dealerships are in a partnership, I just dont understand it! :? Their loss.

I don't really have much to complain about but the small amount of use I have had of dealerships but I wouldnt use them again. Northcoast didn't even change my oil on the ZZR when it went in for a schedueled service. I now go to a guy called Terry in Nambour who is a private mechanic. The bike feels like a dream after he's had it and he charges me half the price for parts and labour. Meh.

that kwak joint in albion sucks... i had my baby run over by a jeep in a parking lot (work collegue  ), and i figured, go to the actual kwak joint and let them do the insurance repair.... 3 MONTHS LATER it was done!!! hello!! common shit that gets done in a "drop": indicators, mirrors, respray fuselage, stickers, etc.. are common bloody things that should NOT take that long to do. then i had to have it go back cuz i WAS NOT happy with the re-spray, and the front guard (replaced) still looks wonky (sticking up a bit, I SWEAR!)
anyway, i like Mick out at goodna obviously, and darcy at bike performace.. they are two good blokes from a different era of mechanics... ones that LOVE bikes.
the suzzie place in VA sucks, oh, the honda place is really good too here in Brissy (Windsor officially)
uh, that's about it really.

PFFFT, dealership mechanics/services we should all know by now carry a uniform standard throughout of shitfulness.

The amount of times Noyes Honda took forever to do the most simplest things, continually fucked the tuning etc etc on my CBR250R. And they make you pay outrageous prices for their shitty workmanship.

Just had an old mate come to me complainging about the pricks (Ippy dealership, same I used to go to). Went there to get a safety certificate for his bike so he could sell it. After determining that the steering was out of allignment, they took the bike out back to work on it. My mate goes round a bit after, to find the wankers smashing the front wheel up against a wall to re-align it!

In the process, the brain-dead fucktards cracked his mudguard, dropped the bike and snapped his clutch lever and smashed the indicator. My mate goes up to them, they see him, huddle off into staff only section of the dealership and leave my mate to stand there looking at his damaged bike.

Lucky for him though, his dad is a lawyer, who wasted no time getting on their arses, though they tried to claim firstly that it was already cracked, then hairline fracture etc.

Unreal. Do NOT trust dealerships.

The other thing to remember, is that this is where all the kiddy apprentices have jobs. Don't want my bike, my pride and joy, and something that could potentially kill me if not worked on properly, worked on by some know-nothing 1st year apprentice.

I bought my bike from a dodgy dealer in Slacks Creek... I'm still waiting for my 636 stickers they said they would have the weekend after I picked it up... My mate is also still waiting for a silver visor from the same place!

We kinda did know these blokes were a bit dodgy so we aren't surprised, but my other mates booth bought their bikes from a southside honda dealership that will remain pro anonymous and just after one of them had picked it up, noticed it had been dropped (only cosmetic damage). Of course no-one wanted to own up to it but luckily after a bit of jumping up and down, they agreed to fix it... That was 5 weeks ago and they still haven't got the parts in! :x

That's my spleen venting for today...

Well as I have said before, I am keen on the guys at Motorcycle Country up at Gympie. But add to that I haven't had a service there, I just bought my bike, and a heap of gear there. Heaps, in fact.

I will let you know how the guys at Toowoomba Yammy are when my bike goes in for a service next week.

What I want to know is: why do people take their bikes to a bike shop to get their bike resprayed etc? Why don't they take them to a panel shop like normal people? :?

Thanks guys all very enlightening stuff, I'll save my opinions till the end. Felix to my knowledge there is no paint numbers supplied by any of the Bike manufacturers & most paintjobs are mostly multi coat multi tints. There is however places on the net that will supply paint pretty damn close i believe.

When I got the front fairing for my 636 re-painted they told me (The guy who was doing it used to work for a Kawasaki joint) that to get the exact colour you would have to spray paint it metallic silver then add blue tinted clear coats over the top till you got the right colour. It took them 16 coats or something to get mine right (and it's not) They don't just have a colour code, the older models might though.

Cripes!! I agree with neka!!

By the time you've paid them to be fussy little vegemites doing a perfect match, you probably just paid for a full spray in something else. In any case, most of the panel shops I've been to have a very good eye for colour matching and the techniques employed.

Oh, and I always drop by on a friday afternoon and mention "cash"...works especially well when they are already on their third beer or so...

Hi all,

Been a Kawa boy all my life so I have had experiances with Midtown and Whales. Both have been good and bad. Like others Midtown seem to fail to fill out your log book when you get a service so last time I was there I made a point of telling them this and how poor it was. On the other hand the sales at Midtown was a good experiance and they always front up with a loan bike when I drop mine in. That's a big plus I think.

As for Whales, sales was a sore point with the people not giving much help however spare parts section is vast and the guys in there are a great help. Haven't had the bike serviced there and probably won't as I work in the city and its easier at Midtown.

Apart from these two places I haven't found anywhere else that does a good service, close to town and provides a loan bike for the day.

Heya,

Well here's my little run down of shops I go to;

Midtown : I like going here for gear cos the chick gives me good discounts. Also cos a few weeks ago I wanted a pair of joe rocket RED gloves. But they only had YELLOW (YUK), and she goes well here take the yellow ones and wear them and when the red ones get in bring them back. WOOT!! Two weeks later I have my new gloves. Also the other day we got new summer jackets and she gave us a good discount.

However once I was out front looking at the bikes and a sales guy comes up to me and says hey love.... that's the start button  I'm like I know you f*** idiot I have actually built a bike, what have you done besides scratch your big fat arse..
So I go there for gear... but not to buy sell a bike... However the workshop guys rock..... They found us a second FZR to pull apart etc.

Powercycle: What can I say??? Well they SUCK!!!! Over priced everything… and they don’t give discounts on hardly anything.. some crap story about it’s already at a low price.. Yeah what ever and my arse isn’t fat!!!! Also all the sales guys treat me like crap….
Because my husband and I always buy things together I expect a discount. We got two pairs of draggin jeans and so I go how much she goes how much is on the tag.. I go well bugger ya then, I’ll go somewhere else… She comes running after me and says oh ok how much…. Also my husband had to get a new helmet.. They wouldn’t give a discount but we had to get the helmet anyway cos we wanted to ride.. I go and pick the helmet up and they left the invoice in it.. So I read it and for them to buy the helmet was $150 and they sold it to us for $300.. and they said they didn’t make a profit.. So I go back and show them and say please explain (Pauline Hanson voice) and they still go oh that must be a mistake…

Toombul.. Yamaha (Forgot the real name)

Pretty slack with discounts as well… However redeemed themselves by having the cheapest tinted visors we could find…

Albion Bike Wreckers… Pretty descent guy and prices for what we wanted… However with most wreckers are over priced and have to work hard to get the price we are willing to pay..

I’ve found I have to be aggressive when I go shopping in motorcycle shops cos most of the time I get ignored and they all go straight to Chris… Chris goes no my wife needs this and that etc, and they go oh really.. but don’t actually ask me they still talk to Chris and it pisses us off. So we won’t go to certain shops anymore. Also once I was sitting on an R6.. The bike of my dreams.. and a sales guy comes up and says.. oh no love u should stick to a 250.. girls aren’t really good riders…
I just get sick of that crap cos I even got it from my instructor,,, all day was girls cant ride they should dtick to 250 and at the end of the day he goes do u want to go for your big bike and I go yes!! He goes I think girls shouls stick to 250 so u wont need it.. and Chris comes up and says.. Ok sweet hart you have that 500 and I’ll go on that one ok.. and the instructor’s face went red.. Then he said no girls shouldn’t ride sports bikes.. go and get on the virago!!! I was like bloody hell I’m not getting on that

Anyway That’s what’s happened so far this year.
If ya can't understand what I've written, it doesn't matter and prob wasn't worth reading anyway
