i dont mean to sound negative but seriously, how do you define known - well known and unknown.........

and when was the last time a majority of you actually went to a race meeting not including the GP or WSBK ?? that is where these guys will be racing

The last round at EC...and hopefully the next one if I get a leave pass from the Minister for Finance and War.

Another point, if they aren't a member before they get our sponsorship, they bloody well better be afterwards

I was at Winton on Sunday Phil, never miss a GP and get to most WSBK's in Vic.

I believe an up and commer non-KSRC is the go, although if we had our own rider doing nationals then maybe i'd reconsider. Even if the rider is running around the track in 10th to last he is still getting experience and our logo still circulates with him/her.

Shit Nakkers never did much better than that and we/I/us printed his farkin name on our banner.

cheers

Known means the person is known.
Well known means they're known well.
Unknown is the opposite to known.

Hope that helps. Mind you, known is a pretty funny looking word if you type it enough times!

We get one round of the Aussie supers and I always try and get out to that for a day or two. Even if I'm working.

I try and make the MotoGP and Supers, but since it's so far a way it's often one or the other. As a result, I normally have to make do with just attending the local club meets.

I would have thought that not too difficult, but not for you cause you probly know em all...
For example - Based on Winton results..
Well known - Shannon Johnson, Josh Waters, Wayne Maxwell (could be below too)
Somewhat known - Chris Seaton, (Wayne Maxwell.?)
Unknown - Scott Yates, Alistair Read, James Van Rooyan

Theres not a lot ot choose from ATM....

BTW, I'm at all the NSW rounds, the GP's and supers...
Unfortunatley I don't get to travel to all the rounds like some do..

This is the sort of thing that could get more ppl to the national races....
We should get Terry O'neal to support us too. :-)

ditto wot jase said..we get one round only, and its a bit costly to go interstate for the aus sbk...i USE to attend with the likes of Philthy & Kaw back in the day...

im happy either way, but as stated i think we should have a few "rules/conditions" for sponsoring said rider....

*ride report(race) on the site a must.

*stickers/logos a must

*shirt has to be worn occasionally

*he can put his grid girl in our shirt if he likes

*he makes himself available to members at each meet- maybe 30 min or so after the race to have a beer, chat etc...or a dinner or sumthin... if were gunna sponsor this guy id want him to treat us like mates, not sponsors...

I dont go to the rounds because of 2 reasons...

1. Very little TV coverage.... makes it hard to get into it....
2. Dont know anyone racing....
The world is round. It has no point.

its funny, all the guys i knew were at the races are the ones saying they were there  .....

with the known / well known bit i could have been more direct....

i mean, someone who never goes to a race is unlikely to know who the likes of James Van Rooyen, Scott Yates, Chris Seaton and Alistar Reid are, but someone who has been to a round would have seen them in action and if are anything like me would take particular note of ANYONE riding a kawasaki........ and that could mean the difference between known and unknown.

BTW anyone who thinks i get free travel etc.......sorry, i have to pay for EVERYTHING myself, the only round I come out ahead at is the eastern creek round.

then again, has anyone ever made a fortune out of doing an apprenticeship....i dont think so.

hope to see you all at your local round next year

Phil,
As you've been to more races than anyone, who would you say has potential.?

well, first question is in what class, quite honestly i'd give supersport a miss, the action is cut throat and 1 second can mean the difference between 1st and 15th.

i would be looking for someone in superstock or F-xtreme. as these classes are for c+d grades only alot will depend on end of year gradings etc (and what state they come from byt thats another story  )

but if i had to pick right now of the riders we mentioned i prolly go for alistair reid or scott yates.

your prob. right Dave, we all have spoken about this from time to time and it's the same ppl that put their hand up, the others want to come along for the ride (no pun)....

Let's just do what we can with what we can come up with, even if it means we'll throw a couple of T-shirts/following or some entry fees to josh or chris (insert other) to help out. Possibly to be an advertisising board for us.

Either way we should consider as Phil said in as not so many words, how many of us do turn up to the races anyway? But I know we prob. would if we had a deeper intrest?

We'd put in a green back for the ability to have the rider come speak/talk to us at a track day or Barbie (BBQ) just to know we were helping out in some way.

42 polled ppl out of a normal 100-150 active posting members over a weeks thread??? this could mean any where between 1000 quid and $4000?

There are numerous ways of raising monies to support a rider, from the gold coin donation at all rides and funtions to direct debiting into an account.

Some of us do things to help out this club by donating time, assistance to others, printing at cost, web hosting, tech assistance both puter and bike, smash pick up, you name it... hell even being mates...

Point is it's less than what you'de spend on grog and smokes or loose women/blokes so don't let this idea die a miserable death... :?

Oh and there is no Jimmy Black left...

Cheers
Mick :drinkers:
