Glen wrote: No, because it's obviously a bullshit ploy anyway. The eliminators is fitted with spacers so it doesn't come into contact with the bodywork anywhere (not unlike the original piece). Hopefully if I can keep the original bit I'll have a spare, which I'll fix so I can use it when the next one goes.
Maybe it is bullshit..

Like the car salesman who tells you if you get your car serviced elsewhere
it voids the warranty..

AND as a "goodwill" they dont have to replace when it breaks AGAIN !!
from personal experience
Correcto. The bloke referred to it as a"one off" goodwill measure. So I guess that's it. Given that it took over twelve months for this one to go I'm guessing it will likely be out of warranty when the next one cracks.
Looks like I'm going to get to find out how far "goodwill" goes as my local dealer goes in to bat for me again with Kawasaki over my new-and-already-cracked tail section

You may be in the same boat as I was. The excuse they used was that due to my bike being involved in an accident, and being repaired, they wouldn't cover it under warranty.
That was until I rang personally (the dealer passed on the previous message and they couldn't be bothered to push it) and told them it was repaired by a Kawasaki dealer with all orig parts. I faxed the recept and then they decised to replace it, only under goodwill of course...

Good luck with it Mick. With your replacement did you try anything different, I was thinking of sitting it on foam or rubber or something at the mounting points.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Yeah Dave, I'm hoping they don't take that line, but chances are they will.

Glen, I put foam under all the mounting points and even made sure it was being supported from below by some foam on the fender instead of bouncing around like stock...obviously made no difference

Well my update is they gave me another tail section under warranty. Apparently quite a few have been doing it  and they don't really know why other than vibration frequency on some bikes :?

You'll have to show him how to polish a bike properly Gos. The silly buggers left his out in the sun too long and it's gone all dull.

  we tried at Lainie's earlier this year, it just remains that gloss-repellent finish, called 'unobtanium' - unable to obtain a nice shiny gloss.. :P
