ZX10 Cracked Arse Update
For those that remember my dearly beloved 10 developed the dreaded arse crack syndrome.
Put it in for service at Narellan Kawasaki on Friday (who did a sensational job at a reasonable price and lent me a bike for the day). Richard contacted Kawasaki Tech Services and was told that Kawasaki's official position was that because mine had been modified (It has a fender eliminator) that any damage was not covered under warranty. (I knew this would be their response).
I contacted Kawasaki Technical services today and spoke to a bloke called Peter. He confirmed it had been knocked back because of the eliminator. I mentioned that I knew of others that cracked without eliminators and that I bought my eliminator from Parramatta Kawasaki when I bought the bike. Pretty well straight off the bat he agreed that it would be replaced as a one off "goodwill" gesture.
Sounds like the approach from Kawasaki to a fairly common problem is the old deny liability and hope you don't hear back numbers game. If you happen to ring and complain then they fix it.
Pretty ordinary approach I reckon. I have to say though that Richard at Narellan Kawasaki was really good, it's Kawasaki that is the problem.
While I'm on it I can highly recommend Narellan Kawasaki. For those in Sydney, give them a go, he's got a good young mechanic now and their servicing is fairly priced.

Will you take the eliminator off until warranty runs out now?Glen wrote: Richard contacted Kawasaki Tech Services and was told that Kawasaki's official position was that because mine had been modified (It has a fender eliminator) that any damage was not covered under warranty. No, because it's obviously a bullshit ploy anyway. The eliminators is fitted with spacers so it doesn't come into contact with the bodywork anywhere (not unlike the original piece). Hopefully if I can keep the original bit I'll have a spare, which I'll fix so I can use it when the next one goes.Kishy wrote:Will you take the eliminator off until warranty runs out now?Glen wrote: Richard contacted Kawasaki Tech Services and was told that Kawasaki's official position was that because mine had been modified (It has a fender eliminator) that any damage was not covered under warranty. Correcto. The bloke referred to it as a"one off" goodwill measure. So I guess that's it. Given that it took over twelve months for this one to go I'm guessing it will likely be out of warranty when the next one cracks.frogzx12r wrote:AND as a "goodwill" they dont have to replace when it breaks AGAIN !!Mick C wrote:It's amazing how much "goodwill" Kawasaki Australia have...
