K&N, rejet/remap was standard and most motors had at least the head sorted (Gas flowed, polished, ported etc). They often had big bore kits, high lift cams and bucket valves, balanced crank and racing pistons. Bearings got upgraded, and additional oil lines for better lube. Those dedicated to the art would add turbos and/or nitros and 250 ponies at the rear wheel was not uncommon. I recall a V-Max with GSXR front end, 1400cc with nitros and 350bhp.
While all that was being done, may as well polish a few bits and paint what bodywork was left so the bike is individual. Performance and handling were paramount, but if ya gonna go to that level of detail, may as make it look nice too.
The suspension mods sound tasty. But the rest is a little unnecessary these days Mike! If I use a modern chassis there really isn't a necessity to brace the swingarm, or gas flow te head as 125-140 is way too much power for the rd anyhow. Honda tidied up the blade motor for the Hornet with some simple stainless wire spiral hose. I might follow suit,n paint it a nice kawasaki green, some cool bars, levers,pegs,pipe,screen/cowl,mini belly pan,n some nice instruments. By the time i finish it, i should be ready for something else!!!!
I had a look at a 9 in sydney tonight. Twas nice. But it had a noisy top end. It didn't disapear when it warmed and was consistent with revs so it sound cam related unfortunately. There is an R1 i am going to look at hopefully before i go home.
Mind you the bride is applying pressure to get something with a pillion seat like those on a K1100RT! Would one of those fit a 9? LOL.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
