Chikky, you can do what ever you put your mind to!
Go out there and do the course and apprenticeship, if that is what you really want to. Don't listen to the negative thoughts from family and friends, they will only make you doubt your own abilities.

If your keen go for it. Its one of those jobs that you have to love because you certainely wouldn't do it for the glamour or money. Having said that it can open doors for you to. I did my trade on cars but have worked on race cars and still crew on a outlaws drag car, and currently we have our own repair business. You can use it to go places, you don't have to work for someone doing mundane services forever. Volunteering is a good foot in the door. We had a young guy that did work experience with us last year then came back and worked in some of his school holidays. He is now our apprentice as of this year. Good luck with it.
Paul.

When I was 16 I wanted to be a mechanic and I let my folks talk me out of it. How much money have I been ripped off since then??? THOUSANDS.
Having said that though, I'd only take my bike to a girl mechanic if I knew her and liked her - there's not that many girls that I actually like.
If I had a choice, I'd take my bike to a gay bike mechanic. Before you laugh, think about their attention to detail and how particular they are about what they do. But alas, I suspect gay bike mechanics are in short supply round here - damnit.

Bitch fights, and a lot of bitch slapping and nail clawing
After that, the women would then stand around, compare manicures, dress designers, hairstyles, and then sit down and talk about the state of affairs of the world, insteard of arbitarily invading their neighbour.
Cheers,
Anne
