Scooters

Post by ShadowKeeper »

I bought my wife a scooter to commute from our house to her work 30km/h, max speed limit the way she goes is 70km/h. The Scooter is an Aprilia SR50 Factory (de-restricted) with my fat arse on it the scooter is quite capable of close to 100km/h. It is only 50ccs but it will smoke most cars from the lights and some bikes and it only uses $6.00 of BP Ultima a week and a bit of two stroke oil every 600kms.

Fully worked (70cc kit, new ingition computer, pipe and a couple of other little things) it will be capable of approx 130 to 140km/h.

I wouldn't allow my wife to go out on the streets, without her full gear which includes a IXON fabric jacket with elbow, shoulder and back protection, R-Jays carbon fibre knuckled gloves, Sidi boots, Draggin jeans and HJC helmet.

The problem with car drivers is that because she is on a scooter they assume she can't do the speed limit, it's quite amusing to watch as they overtake her as she cruises up to the speed limit just for them to be overtaken by her when the speed limit goes up another 10 kays.

So ZZRCHIKKY, do I bundle you in with all the other type of the bike riders such as the Harley riders, wannabe Harley rides, Goldwing retirees, and cheap arse Hyosung riders because all of those guys get in my way and give me the shits or do I just respect you for having the courage of being able to ride some form of two wheeled transport?

THE POINT WAS ABOUT THE ONES THAT CANT DO THE SPEED LIMIT !!!!!

QLD alows learners to do 110 kmph so that it dosnt congest traffic but then lets scooters on the highway that only strugle to 60k's !!!

Ur a bit of an idiot !!!

It as actually against qld traffic law to ride a scooter of 50cc capacity on a road with a posted limit of 80km/h or more.

My dad bought a bug 150 and it does 100kph+ without much problem...quite a lot of fun around town too... :D

why attack scooter riders that don't do the limit?
the law book says you must ride at a safe and legal speed.
in the eyes of the law safe is interpreted as safe predominately for the rider/driver and safe is usually interpreted as being slower rather than faster (tho i concede this isn't always the case).

IMO your comments are and attidude isn't any better than that of a cage driver cursin about those bloody bikers splittin traffic at the lights.

then bitin back when someone puts up an alternate point of view, to me, shows a severe lack of maturity. Whether specifying a certain type of scooter rider or grouping all of them together, your orginal comments are pretty self-centred. Your not the only one using the roads.
