Big bore bikes and perspective.

A good bit of grunt can count for a lot more in low speed twisties because you can use the power rather than having a 600cc screamer, not saying the screamer doesnt have its place but i dont bother with the banging it into first out of corners so i have to wait for it to wind up before i get moving.

Something like a nine or a 12 has power from 3000rpm rather than starts to get moving at 8000rpm and is screaming at 10000rpm which might be say 110kph in second but not handy in a 30kph corner.

The 600 clas bikes probably wind up quicker if your a lightweight too like under 70kg.

I used to love the 250 up the hills because it all happened at a reasonable speed with a heap of gears and at full throttle.... have you had any 250s go past ya latley strika.

Also depends on the road like the northern end of the putty seemed like it would suit a 600 a whole lot more its a way more open type of twisty but the runoffs didnt look so good.

A nice quiet low revving bike makes you feel as though you are not going as fast. It's a mental thing. And he certainly was pretty mental

Pathetic R6 & R1's. Get a ZX10R Its got heaps everywhere. Jumping on the ZX9 to go to work is nearly a let down. "Nearly" then I hoist the front wheel on the nine and happiness returns.

Back to the issue, for all those considering upgrading to a bigger bike, if you feel you are physically able to handle a heavier weighted bike, have a look at some of the so-called "de-tuned" models. they may well be the riding improver you have been looking for.

did some-one say ZX9R?
i went straight up from the zx2 and it's a perfect bike for me.
being a bit taller than most, the size of the bike suits well. and i think i've hit red-line only a handful of times in the hills. i only use all its got on the track. perfect.

Im still on a 600 after more than 10 years of riding..... but the next bike will be a big bore...... more than likely a 12.... Im looking forward to have loads of power in every conceivable gear....
