Re: Does the 2021 Ninja 650 LAMS have an immobiliser?
A lot of older Kawasakis have a 100 ohm resistor in the ignition barrel - if the CDI doesn't see 100 ohms, no start- in other words you can't cut wires and twist together wthout the resistor. My ignition switch on my ZRX broke 800km from home. I ended up down Jaycar and bought a soldering iron ...

Now have a 88, 89 and 91 GPZ900R.
Will be interesting to compare new model once I have it running/riding. I rode one 23 years ago a bit.

Still suspicious of 110 degree switch I swapped it out with one that I had tested working. My second complete bike had a broken one. Turns out that my original one tests ok too.
Let the bike get 'hot' on the drive while running. Just been riding through traffic and gauge was high ...

Didn't have one. I have a Megacycle 4 into 1 now but inconvenient exhaust- you need bellypan mods, have to lose the centrestand and remove the pipe to do oil/filter.

Re: GPz900r Over-heating
My 89 CBR1000F is a much better mile eater than the GPZ900R but it is BORING comparatively even though it has a lot more go.
Really boring. GPZ heaps better bike despite bike mags of the period saying the CBR was the best big sport bike then. Bullshit...

Re: GPz900r Keihin Main Jets
I read that the small carb bikes have more power down low but less up top. I converted mine to big carb. If you are REALLY patient my second GPZ has the small carbs. One day I'll get around to fixing the engine. Got other bikes in front of it though.

Re: GPz900r Over-heating
Great article! Timely too as my 900 is running hotter than usual at the moment.
A few things to add:
Repco sells a 1.1 cap for around $14 or so. RC57-110 is the model IIRC. Had one on my bike for years and replaced recently. It is my go to motorcycle cap and I have had on many bikes.

Re: Find my late Dads bike
Do you have frame number, rego number? If you do could do a rego check in each state. Could check PPSR site- $2 check will tell you if it was written off- be careful there to get the correct site- plenty will give you that info at higher cost.

Ridden previous Busa. Great engine. My GPZ and ZRX steer heaps quicker and consequently more fun.
