Gpz900 oil warning light issue

Hi all I have been slowly putting my old 88 modell gpz back on the road and have everything done except for one thing. Im having a problem with the oil warning light obn the dash, it stays on constantly. Oil level is good but even if I pull the wire off the the sender the light on the dash stays on. Im not that graet at electrics so go easy on me if you have any ideas....think ....''Bike Electrics for Dummies''. I tried rerouting a new wire from the sender up to the plug at the dash to bypass any issues but the light goes out and stays out, not want you want. I have pulled the sensor cleaned it up and its working ok i tested it with my basic multimeter and it seems to be good. I am assuming the light on the dash would go out before start with ignition on f the wire at the sender was disconnected as this would simulate the switch shutting off once oil pressure had been achieved, is this the case?
I have replaced the starter clutch repainted what needed doing and sorted everything else out but this and its really frustrating....any opinions?

Generally the oil pressure switch supplies the 'earth'. So your circuit is shorted to earth somewhere where after the light and before the switch. Start at the light and follow the wires till you find it?

You don't want to bypass the switch - you say it's working?
Find the wire coming from the oil light, and...

This diag is from an early ZZR - you *may* find the wire colour (Blue with red line) is even the same.

When I say bypass I mean the bypassing the dodgy wiring , i still want the light to work as designed

Im in northern brisbane mate , the bikes not registered at the moment it was sitting in a shed for many years and i thought it was time to get it running again

Then do as per drawing. Don't forget to cut the dodgy wire out of the circuit (black crosses).

Are you sure the correct bulbs are plugged into the correct sockets in the dash???

Trace the voltage step by step... You *have* to find the problem.

are you saying the light goes out once the motor is running?
