Actually Guys, I believe it is a short somewhere between the Active supply & Switch Wire causing the problem.
As this is equivelent to what happens in normal operation when you flick the switch it would not cause the breaker to trip....not that there are any breakers.

Bit of a touch up on the pipes and she'll look as new.

Here's a better idea.

Strip the ends of the wires so they are bare and put the tips of the wire on ur tounge. if nothing happens try another wire.

I actually read an early...1930's I think...Wiring Regs book that listed taste / touch testing as an acceptable method for checking for Voltage ...
