little yellow flames out the exhaust

im thinkin the mixtures too rich, cause when ya roll the throttle on by the handful, it kinda dies .....then ya back off on the gas.....it picks up and then when revvin it out a lil it spits lil yellow flames out the can...about two inches long.....

am i wrong?

i have the very first of these models, and it doesnt have, nor require a seal.....if it does, then i cant explain why mines not leaking....

i just had a look at the manual, and theres definately no seal thats required for the J-M models either....

according to this mechanic, the valve clearences were nonexistent, hence the trouble with it idling

someone had been in there previously and made a right mess of the job they were supposed to undertake

The thing i noticed when i rode it home, was that despite the efforts put in on his behalf ...

I put the bike in to have the clutch looked at on Wednesday, ended up replacing the friction plates, apparently the steels were alright, just needed a lil roughin up or something along those lines, the guy I took it too also replaced the plugs, cleaned and balanced the carbs, stuck in a new set of ...

how to.....slipper clutch

Ive been told by the shop that im going to get a new clutch through, that the early model zxr750's, dont have slipper clutches, and if they did, it would only be the "R" models that did.

I was under the impression, i could be wrong (and probably am lol) but doesnt installing thinner steel plates ...

Didnt someone post a parts list in another one of your threads?

You might be able to cross reference the numbers, between the H and slightly later models, to see if they're identical?

when i had my 2fiddy, i somehow or other managed to come across the most amazing find, repairer wise...

some guy who was a factory tech for about 20 years, now just races and fixes jap bikes..all his manuals are japanese, and his prices are unbelieveable...in a good way

so, if it was doing the same thing while accelerating, it'd be a slipping clutch, wouldnt it?

ie.....take of givin it a handful, slip it into second, and the revs stay up to a certain degree, still picking up speed..til the clutch appears to fully engage, or 'catch up ...

From what i can tell, my 89 zxr750h1 has a slipper clutch

can anyone that actually knows, explain to me, how it is exactly, that a slipper clutch works....

:oops: ...as opposed to a slipping clutch.... :oops:


hydraulic clutches have no adjustment, right?

i think thats somewhere in the ball park...i get 250 before having to use reserve, mind you, thats only givin it a tiny lil bit of stick here and there :wink:
