Re: electricals went bye-bye
I third the battery, the one in my 9 did this and screwed me on a garage forecourt immediately after fueling for a ride on a beautiful day. Would jump start but as soon as the jump battery was removed it would drop cylinders and slowly die.

Re: Think ive ended my motorcycling career
I felt similar after collecting a sheep at 100 - 110 kph, writing off the bike, I was concussed and severely bruised all over but somehow no real injuries. The worst injury was to my confidence, I didn't ride at all for about 5 years. A mate talked me into getting on his spare bike one afteroon and ...

Re: 2000 ZX9 muffler onto 1998 ZX9 ???
Are you sure?
The 98/99 model use a bolt on can, attached to the headers/mid pipe with a three bolted flange.
I thought the 2000-2003 used a slip on design? Don't the later model (E & F) use an exhaust with a removable mid pipe?

Re: Why do you / don't you "love the 9"
You won't go wrong with a ZX9, I love mine to bits, bits of plastic might fall off from time to time, occasionally a wire to the tail lights or some other insignificant part will come off and need to be resoldered. Engine never quits, it has enough power to stay on the heels of any new 1000 bike on ...

Re: Oil for the ZRX
When I had a TRX 850 I changed to Motul 5100, made a big difference to the gearbox, smoothed the shifts noticeably.
However, my ZX9 shifts a lot smoother on Shell advance Fully synth than it did on Motul 5100. No difference in operating temp or engine noise or anything else, except the gearbox in ...

Re: Fuel efficiency...
Bike- 98 ZX9R
Fuel, book says 19L takes more like 21 when filled to the brim.
Reserve, approx 4 litres.
Round town range to reserve, 240 - 270km
open road, "quick" road riding range to reserve, 180 - 200km
open road touring i.e getting somewhere on dead shit boring motorways, to reserve, 300- 320km

Re: Condition of VicRoad C543 (Omeo Highway)
I've done the Omeo highway, Mitta Mitta to Anglers rest and yes there is about 30 km of gravel, not too bad as far as logging roads go, some sections have quite bad corrugations but they are rideable.
The section of sealed road from the end of the gravel down to Anglers Rest (Blue Duck) makes it ...

Re: Tail light Issue
I just had an issue with the tail lights on my 98 zx9, one of the wires broke off the solder in the tail light bulb holder, might be worth a look round that area. Easy fix if you have a soldering iron, if that turns out to be the problem. Are the bulbs you are using the correct type and wired ...

Re: Bike Jerks
If it happens on a 9, just click it into gear and with the clutch lever out, press the start button and hold it until the fuel pump stops ticking, click back into neutral and start. Will start just like normal then. Not sure if the 250 uses a fuel pump or gravity feed, if it's gravity fed, disregard ...
