Re: Has someone tried to hack my account?

Yes, but it's not anything personal (or related to your computer). A cycling forum that I'm on said that there have been a lot of attacks on phpbb based forums worldwide and that you should ensure you have a strong password.

Re: Anyone have a M12x1.5 thread repair kit?

I won. Bike runs and doesn't leak.
I ended up taking the chuck off my drill press and turning it with my hand to drill the hole because the disassembled drill press didn't have enough torque to turn the 12.4 mm bit! I drilled through a $1 Bunnings socket to use it as a guide, because the only ...

Re: Anyone have a M12x1.5 thread repair kit?

Engine in. I've seen a tutorial on a disassembled postie bike showing how to do it with minimal swarf (as if it were being done on the bike). You pack the drill bit and tap with grease, go slow, and wipe a greased coathanger or something around the inside. Fingers crossed. Besides, there's a chance ...

Re: Anyone have a M12x1.5 thread repair kit?

tap a 14mm thread, no need for a drill (the pilot holes a 12mm drill ;) ) get a 14mm bolt, drill a recess and glue in a small magnet :)
I never considered just ramming a 14 mm bolt in. Seems a bit crude for a 5 year old bike. But I'll consider it for my 20 yo TZR if the need arises. The nastiest ...

Re: Anyone have a M12x1.5 thread repair kit?

I'd like to keep the stock magnetic plug and by the time I buy such a large drill bit, tap and plug it won't be a cheap option either.

Re: Anyone have a M12x1.5 thread repair kit?

Oh and coke cans are great for sleeving big end shell bearings.
LOL, I made a "racing" airbox cover for the KTM out of steel sheet from a broken laser printer so I'm not averse to slightly unusual solutions, but I'd have to experiment on a cheap bike before messing around with jury rigging big ...

Anyone have a M12x1.5 thread repair kit?

It turns out that my KTM has a stripped and cross threaded magnetic sump plug thread. I don't know what makes people think that you should turn harder when a bolt doesn't want to go in. I tried to put it back straight(er) and messed it up more and now it has a very slow leak.

Since the thread ...

Re: Motorcyclist Jailed for speeding

Having most of the people doing 85 mph on 70 mph motorways and up to 100 mph (161 km/h) being unofficially tolerated is pretty lenient don't you think? It's laughable that here you can find a news story on somebody doing 180 km/h on the highway. There are no fixed speed cameras on the motorways ...

Kincrome or some knock off called Kingchrome? I like their stuff but it usually costs a bit too much. I may experience a financial disaster if I go to that place.

Re: Motorcyclist Jailed for speeding

Man, if something doesn't change I might have to move back to england and put up with rain every second day. The anti speeding shit in australia is utterly mental. 5forbidden.gif

Re: Help with hole in fuel tank!!

My JB weld repair has lasted something like 9 months now. It's probably not the most reliable of methods, but it's not doomed to failure.

Re: Help with hole in fuel tank!!

JB Weld works too (steel reinforced epoxy). I've used it on my TZR's tank when it developed a pin hole leak from rust.

Re: ever been depressed walking into your office??

Yeah, how about rushing a 6000 km tour and riding 1900 km in 2.5 days to face a bollocking from the calm boss, and waiting until this upcoming monday to face a bollocking from the angry explosive irish boss who has been at his dad's funeral this week. On top of this, I'm staying in a hotel while I ...

Nah I'm the UK with a Yamaha FZS600 until November. I'm looking forward to coming back and joining you guys in your races.
Not surprised that you were up a TZR's arse, but there's a price to pay for that high state of tune isn't there :P
