Re: Stripped ZX10 not starting
Check the fuses, my gsxr 1000 blew a fuse on the track & it turned over, dash played up, lights worked etc, turned out to be as simple as the engine fuse!

Re: Starter issues
Well it seems like I've fixed it.
The story is that when I bought the bike it was in a poor state & it had a few previous owners that were going to get it going but never did.
She came with a few box's of parts & strangely there was a new stsrter solenoid apart from the original on the bike.
So the ...

Starter issues
Hi all it's been a while
The issue is with a 94 ZXR 750, fully rebuilt a few years ago with all the old parts.
My electrical expertise is hopeless so I'm after some help before I waste $$ replacing parts.
I've been through 3 starter solenoids thinking they were faulty, she's always been a bit dodgy ...

There's always something new to learn, I've heard dad referring to a sticky valve giving a popping exhaust sound.

Re: ZXR750 rebuild #3
Hi Jim,
Re the mis fire issue, check that the needles are on the correct grooves.
The GSXR we just got going had a bad misfire issue & we gave up on it & Jamie at Sportscycles at Gateshead found it, we had one needle out of the 4 higher than the rest & that was enough to do it. I was surprised, I ...

Re: ZXR750 J-M countershaft seal
Hi Fifer, I just had to do mine as the little clutch shaft seal had died & was filling the clutch slave cylinder, it can only be replaced from within.
Its straight forward once you get everything out of the way, I think the side stand has to come off as well, don't forget to drain the oil first.

Re: New chain and sprockets
Think I'll just stick with the stock 16-44, there's plenty of poke down low as it is, I'd just get in trouble, it's easy enough to get the front wheel off the ground now !
The Factory pro kit is partly responsible for that.
Thanks, it was just when I checked on the site link above the first option ...

Re: New chain and sprockets
I'm due for new chain & sprockets too, why do they seem to recommend 13 - 38 sprockets ? Std is 16 - 44 which is what I,m running, ratios are similar at 2.9 & 2.8 respectively.
What do you guy's run ?

I'll put in my 2 bobs worth.
If it's the carbs, pull them off & clean them out, buy some carby cleaner & spray all the holes & jets just in case.
What comes to mind is maybe the choke is on a little bit, check the cable tension, if all that's good then there still may be a choke leak so block them ...

Re: ZXR750 rebuild #3
Thats good, dont worry about the looks, you know its all about the feel.
I've got solvent fizz & runs in the clear, some is half rubbed out & some not, the front upper fairing is still grey undercoat but underneath all the plastic its better than new, better than sex & I cant stop riding her long ...

Re: ZXR750 rebuild #3
Hi Jim, I got all everything like that from Partzilla, all in OEM packets, no problems. Postage seems to be an issue these days out of the states, very expensive sometimes.

Re: ZX7R MINI MAKEOVER BEGINS!
Nice Job, I'm jealous.
I've done up a 94 ZXR 750 & frustrated that I can't get those Chinese fairing sets, seems like they start at the ZX7R's, is that from 95 onwards ?
I know there are other fairing makers but none all painted & marked.
Unless anyone knows otherwise?

Re: 94 ZXR 750 bought back to life
It's certainly got a nice sound, from what I can hear through the helmet.
Jim had a look & thought it was a full Hindle system ? It's certainly not stock as it's all stainless & very light weight.
I put a K&N inlet filter in & disconnected all the pollution gear, so there's a nice inlet noise now ...

Re: 94 ZXR 750 bought back to life
The engine is perfect, just put a set of Factory pro jets & needles in her & also replaced the Pilot jets with 40#'s & oh so nice.
Paid a grand for her on ebay from a guy in Canberra.
Now it's warmed up I just have the fairings to paint & she'll be good enough for me.
She was worth all the work ...
