Possible Bike Issue - Z750

Post by ant »

When taking off hard in first and sometimes second.

At the top of the rev range, it seems to 'free-rev'.

It sounds as if the rear tyre is losing traction, buit the bike doesn't seem to feel as if it is doing this.

Either that, or the clutch is slipping.

is this possible on a 2600 km old bike?

mate, take it in straight away! Remember it is all under warranty! So make sure you get it in there, as if there is something wrong, it will only worsen!

It's hard to explain - and it has only happened twice - both times today.

Coudl it be the rear tyre losing traction?. Certainly doesn't change the 'feel' of the bike.

what happens when ur in second and really punch it?

does it happen then?

if it is the clutch letting go, it'll be more likely to do it at higher speeds in 2nd or third, doin roughly a hundred or so. this is cos there's more load on the engine.

if ur in first it's quite likely that the rear wheel is letting go, tho u'd expect it to step out on you.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

regardless, take it in and explain the symptoms, it wont cost you anything, and then you have abided by your terms under the warranty, last thing you want to do is ride it and have it potentially get worse!

If you were spinning up that much you'd notice the scratch marks on your rear tyre ... sounds like clutch slip to me. Take it back to the dealer and hope you have better luck than my brother (zx'er) with your warranty claim ...

No scratch/scuff marks on tyre.

It's only really 'high' in the rev range that it does it.

I've tried to replicate the issue this morning on the way home from work - but can't.

As for the stepping out on me - that's what I assumed also, it's only very quick, but certainly doesn't feel as if it's trying to step out.

It is fuel injected. You're not just bouncing off the rev limiter are you, just a theory.
