Deus Ex Machina - Custom Bikes

Post by Gosling1 »

Back in March, at the Barry Sheene Memorial, there was a display from the guys at http://www.deusexmachina.com.au

Now that name might sound a bit weird, and the literal translation is not, as you might think, *Two Sex Machines*, - ......although me and my mate Andy were often referred to as this by all the biatches at Capt'n Baldyforks back in the 80's.....

No, actually these guys build custom bikes from a shop at Liverpool ? Red Dave put me onto the website some time ago. cheers mate

Anyway, here are some photos of 2 of the bikes they bought out to the 'Creek. One is a W650 Kawasaki, which I think is a very tasteful example of their work, and if you are into the old 'Clubman' look, well you could do worse than get these guys to build your bike.

The other is a 500cc single (afaik), not sure of its heritage, I guess the best description is *Urban streetfarmhillclimbfighter* :?

There was also a Ducati, but fortunately I had run out of fil-m :P

If you are in Sydney, it could be worth checking these guys out, they clearly *love* their muddaboikes......

Hey Gos actually there in Camperdown, on Parra Road. I've been meaning to get down there and have a bit of look. A friend of mine, Jay You met him at the Barry Sheene Memorial Day, has an old rd 350 air cooled he has been thinking about getting modded by them, Just depends on the dollars. We may just go check it out and steal some ideas, prob a much cheaper option. :)

Cheers

this would be the go mate, the cost for one of these bikes would be pretty much worth more than 10 air-cooled RD 350's !! ( I have a shitload of RD's, I love 'em.......was my first *big* road bike....)

Mick - you are right, in fact I think the birthday boy is getting one this Saturday :P

G'day Gos,

Post by Paddo »

I was in the city on Sussex St the other day, saw that Urban streetfarmhillclimbfighter parked on the side of the road... I nearly ran straight up the arse of a bus, staring at this wierd, out there motorcycle, it is a strange looking bit of gear.

... there was a bloody big crowd around it...

I saw that big old caravan those guys brought to the Sheene Classic, pretty impressive...

Gday Gosling...

Post by Paddo »

Yeah mate, number #60 at the Sheene Classic, my usual number is 66, but because of the massive amount of entries at the Sheene Classic I had to use 60...
Thanks for the welcome, I have to fess up to lurking around this site for a few weeks.
I only have computer access at work at the moment so it can be hard to keep up with all the posts/replies etc..
Are you coming to have a look at the PCRA round 2 racing at Wakefield on the 30th?

Phil you're right,

"The name Deus Ex Machina is Latin for "God is in the machine". It is the perfect name for a project such as ours. It encapsulates the admiration that we have for the applied marriage of industrial and motorcycle design."

^ From the site.

Your photos always look like they were taken and developed in the 60's... why is that?
