Newcastle Bike workshops?

Post by DEN MONKEY »

Hey all, just looking for some advice on somewhere to get work done in Newcastle . I'm just talking the usual servicing etc.

I've tried Kawasaki at Broadmeadow and was very unimpressed.
They didnt order the clutch kit in when I put it in to be done and didnt call me when it was finished. Then took 30 minutes to pull the bike out when I called to tell them I was coming to pick it up.
Not biggies I know but Im a fan of customer service and getting it done right first time.

Also tried Bike care at Adamstown but that wasn't a great experience either.
Sent it in for a service, break pads, sprockets and chain.

Got there to find out they had done the service and nothing else. Then proceeded to tell me I needed the things done that I put it in in the first place for.
Booked me in a week later but I think we all know what its like to have to get a lift to drop off/pick up and to have to do it 2 times for the same job is a bit of a shitter. Think I will give him another shot but if someone can recomend somewhere else local, I'll try them .

Cheers in advance

Den Monkey,

try the bike mechanic at the back of Newcastle Bike Wholesalers, directly opposite Newcastle Kawasaki in Lang Road, have not been there myself but a mate cracked his sump around the plug and they did the job at a very good price.

Hey Den Monkey,

How long ago did you try Kwaka Newcastle ? I've had my old bike serviced there a number of times and never had any problems. I did hear that Toby (the old service manager) had been replaced; perhaps you got the "change-over period" with no real service manager.

I've never heard a bad word about Newcastle Kwaka so I'm just a little surprised.

Probably about 8 months ago Dave, just put me off them .
I've booked it in to Newy Wholesalers later in the week. SO will see how they go.

Ive always thought kawasaki would be more expensive anyway.
Am I wrong with this?

Don't mind paying a little extra to get the job done right , but sure as shit aint to it when it's butchered.

Thanks for the advice. will see how this goes and then maybe look back it Kawasaki if things dont go well.

Whats Newy wholesalers like to buy bikes from ? anyone ?

If your not Happy with the whole salers, head around the corner to Greame Morris`s or go to Adamstown to bike care.

No offence but it doesnt suprise me that you had a bad time with their work shop. Its ummm dont have the best reputation. Even there spares isnt that good (if you use there spares see John youngish guy but very helpful)

Newy Wholesalers are all Ex Boyds salesman (or its a spin off shop to Boyds) bit pricey from what I saw the time I was there. If you really can your best off going to Sydney to buy a bike (I hate to say it) but I wouldnt buy a bike in Newcastle as there is no competition to keep the prices down.
I am proud i ride 2 YAMAHA`s
