Looking at fitting a performance air filter to the zzr and not really sure of what it requires, with the car it was a case of fabricating a mounting and screwing on the K&N filter,
Is there a K&N type air filter available for the zzr?
Will I need to make a fitting to mount the filter under the frame?
and finally is it worth it?
and again thanks for your help with and any other dumb bloody questions I've asked.

There will be a standard K&N filter that you can fit to your bike... (ring a bike shop, they have a list)
Just bear in mind that with an after market exhaust and air filter your bike may end up running rich or lean (I always forget which one is which)... and that would mean you have to adjust the needles to get improved performance... otherwise you will get some backfire action going... Im not sure if the standard needles in the ZZR are adjustable, so you may have to get after market needles (Dynojet sell them)...

when you open up the breathing (better air filter and exhaust), the motor will flow more air. If you leave the fuel (ie jetting) alone, all other things being equal, the bike will run leaner......More Air + Same Fuel = Leaner Overall.Stereo wrote:...Just bear in mind that with an after market exhaust and air filter your bike may end up running rich or lean (I always forget which one is which)...
This is not always a bad thing......lots of bikes are jetted on the rich side from the factory, and fitting a better 'zorst and air filters often brings them back to a much better setting......
But like any tuning, you have to do the correct jetting procedures to get it *just right*.

When I did my CBR600 it got me an extra couple of horsies..... more importantly, it gave me a fair bit more whack in the middle of the range, where you probably spend most of your time.... Afterwards I definitely thought it was worth it...nobby wrote:pm sent Mizz ZZR, Stereo, sounds like a trip to Brighton for me..
