Shoei helmet Q...

Post by Felix »

Mrs Felix has a Shoei head.

So, what is the difference between an RF900 Blade and a TZ-1. It isn't price, so any real dif' or just go for the prettiest one?

Well not really. I figured they are either discontinued or run-out models. MAW or MCAS or one of them has both those models for $399.

I bought my RF900 Blade (in green!) 2 years ago from Parra Kawa and they were on runout then, $399.

Mate great helmet, visors aint cheap, but good quality all round.

If it's straight out the box and hasn't been bounced around the shop floor, snap it up

Get a set of earplugs for the lady as they can be a little noisy though.

All the best :D

Ps I know Hoffy was in the market for a Blade helmet in green XL, PM him if ya find one

My RF-800 is the best lid I have ever owned......its really comfy and still quiet at speed, even after 5 years of ownership......

the new XR1000 is lighter, but much noiser...... not sure what the TZ-1 is like, but recommend you do a test ride if possible......

I thought the TZ-R replaced the TZ-1 ? Mind you all that really means is that there's some cheap TZ-1s around!

I like my TZ-1. Only thing I wish it had (apart from a full set of visor baseplate clips!) is a removable liner.

I have a RF900 (Blade - Green) as my everyday lid... comfy as all get out and have had it about 3 1/2 Years.... Then I got a nice new RF900 (Chicane - Green White with black & purple highlights, Iridium visor etc)... which was then stolen whilst still new (ish).

Replaced stolen RF900 with new Shoei X11 (Akira Yanagawa replica in black, Green Flames and a shark on sides....Gawdy but I like it)Image

The fit and the finish is bloody magnificent and I do NOT regret shelling out the extra hard-earned $$$.

I will probably get a nice Eddie Lawson Replica too... the fit is that bloody good, I am wrapt.

PS: The Helmet (X11) will run to about $1150 here but I managed to land one from a dealer in Japan for $800. My savings will mean extra bling...

Its a Shoei without an AS1680 sticker.... as if that worries me!
