Always said Id get another ZRX....

Post by James »

....but when I went looking for an 06 ZRX the other week, I couldnt find a reason to buy it over the GSX1400.

The 14 has lost some weight over recent years and is now only 2kg heavier than the ZRX. It has a 22 litre tank (ZRX 19L), 6 gears (ZRX 5 gears), fuel injection (ZRX carbs) and it comes in BLACK!

So I bought the GSX and got a GIVI screen and Ventura rack & ventura bag thrown in with the deal. :D

I thought the ZRX was torquey, but the 14 is one helluva torquey son of a bitch too. I went for a ride up the Putty on the weekend and while I cant rev it over 4500rpm during the break-in period, I can do 110km/h in 4th gear and get to 150-160 in top staying within the 4500 rev limit. (theoretically of course - I wouldnt do those speeds on a public road)

So, while I stil rate the mighty ZRX highly - I ended up favouring the GSX when it was time to put the cash down and Im more than happy with my decision.

I still have my ZXR750 and will keep riding it until the rego runs out early next year and then keep it for the track.

I'm not going to modify the 14 too much, but the standard can has to go and I have a replacement on order. Aside from that, everything else will stay as is.

Here she is - her name is Rosie. (as in Whole Lotta...)

Shit James, you buy bikes more than I buy beers... ok, not even close but you buy a lot of bikes... :-)

Glad your happy with it, there a nice bike, I have a mate with the blue and white one.

Your right about the pipe, its gotta go...

My only comment, it just doesn't look as good as a ZRX...

I was going to say quicker than I go through petrol - but Dave beat me to the punch.
And yes, that can must go - and the suzuki stickers. ;)

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

Nice scoot James although as it's not a Kwaka take yourself and your pistol into the Library and make things right....

The can looks like a giant version of the ones I had on my early 80's GSX250.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Hey you punks! I still have a kwaka you know! :D Geeez fickle bunch arent ya's?!

Madkaw - Im sure you thought that of me about 4 bikes ago! This is it now tho, my missus says that if I get another bike I should get another wife too. Cant have that, Ive put too much work in to this one over the last 10 years to start all over again.

Hoffy - Im up for a ride mate whenever possible. Gotta finish off the run-in k's.

For all the standard can haters - I looked at an Akro full system but Id lose my centrestand if I put it on. Who woulda thought Id pick a centrestand over a full Akra? So I'd budgeted $650 for a staintune, but picked up a 3 month old GSX1400 Megacycle slip-on today for 200 bucks! That leaves me some change for a PCIII :D I swear, no mods after that. Actually, I'll be selling some ZX7 stuff soon so maybe a Bagster tank cover and Bag will go on - but after that, no more mods.

Nice bike james. Aftermarket can definitely the go 4 sure.

Doesn't Gilesy(Sean Giles) have one of these as his own private bike ? I reckon it would go ok!
