ZXR250 tech question (urgent!)

Post by NinjaMoses »

Alright this afternoon I took the cheapo alarm system off my girlfriends ZXR250 because it was draining the battery within a day hence it was more trouble then it was worth. Had to take the fuel tank off to get to it...

Anyway... Up the front of the bike near the headstock there is something with 2 thick bits of pipe (probably 20mm thick) coming from it. One leads to the airbox, the other doesnt appear to go anywhere (its about 15cm long and doesnt connect to anything as far as I can tell.)

Can anyone tell me what this pipe does and should it connect on to something? Considering its length I cant see where it connects to so Im not sure if its meant to be like that, but figured I should check anyway.

cheers people,

Couldnt see anywhere on the fuel tank where it would connect to. Also didnt have any clamps etc on it so wasnt being used for fuel. Anyone knew where there is a manual online for these things?

Thanks mate I found one and thankfully it shows what I was looking for.
Looks like that pipe connects to nothing after all as shown here:

The just the vacuum valve. One end has to be in contact with the atmosphere hence its connected to nothing. Scared myself too the first time I saw it...
