sorry to hear you dropped your bike.
I can understand how p!ssed off you must be.
I rode over some small piece of metal sh!t on the road recently (too small to see in time) and it punctured my rear tyre cost me $300 for a new one and got me pretty damn mad.
I wanted to sue as well but like Ponti said it will probably cost you more for the legal help than for the repairs.
Maybe repair the bike and send the receipts to the council requesting they pay up.
You never know they might be stupid enough to pay it
good luck with it anyway.

I agree - looks a bit like the "not my fault - someones gotta pay me" syndrome at work.
All part of the slow march toward Austmerica. Sometimes, when things go wrong, it's because we f*cked up..
Sorry
just take it as a learning experience

Yup, had a low side myself about 3 months or so ago I guess, wet night, metal drain centre of the intersection, didn't see it but wore it as I consider it my own stupidity, although if I go by Jason's post the council will obviously know that drain lid is there and wet metal is really lousy for traction....
Tohught about it, too hard basket I reckon and damage is visible, superfcial but not like she's unrideable.
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

I got nearly $5000 out of the Brisbane council after riding my ZZR1100 through roadworks in Waterworks Road. They dug a trench diagonally across the road with a 20mm lip that was sharp. When I rode through it, it bent both my wheels and tore my rear tyre, deflating instantly. Wobbled down the road, but didn't drop it. When it got towed by a 'professional' motorcycle towing company, they dropped it off the back of the trailer.
Bought a disposable camera and took LOTS of photos of bike and trench. Anywho it took three months, and a good legal letter (my brother is a solicitor) and I got my money.
Three months without my bike sucked- I only had one bike at the time. Luckily the driving school I worked for loaned me a GS500 occasionally during that period.
Take photos and see how you go. Good luck.

Although you should really keep a closer eye out for fluorecent orange witches hats
it wasn't a flourescent witches hat mate.
if u's all read carefully... it was a HARD HAT. the 1's that construction people use.
white hard hat... those turn offs are marked with a lotta white paintings and also white lil bump's with light reflectors.
