Question - ZX2R Hot hot hot!

Post by ToaDz »

Maybe this is normal or it's just me being paranoid all of a sudden, but I have noticed that the section where you pour in the oil is quite hot. It heats up quite dramatically after about 5 minutes. I can feel the heat when riding the bike. I recently changed the oil using MOTUL 5100 and the oil gauge indicates that the oil level is fine (as per ZX2R manual).

Is this normal? If not, what do you's think is the problem or what do I need to do?

Cheers

Its part of the engine, of course it will get hot. As long as the engine isnt over heating, or running low on oil, you should be fine.

Remember the oil is stored in the sump and is used to lube all the hot bits like pistons, cams, etc, too.

If it hurts, you aren't doing it right.

Is the thermo fan coming on & how high on the Temp guage is it displaying. Ya have to remember the 2r has 4 pistons the size of your thumb tip running at 17 squillion rpms, So its bound to get warm mate.
A radiator fluch wouldn't hurt if you haven't done one since you bought it.
