Bag for pillion seat of my ZZR ...

Post by ZZRCharlie »

Gday all,

I am after some information/suggestions about what to get to hold my gear in, for my bike. I am not too keen on a tank bag, and would prefer not to get a rack either. I'm after some kind of bag with straps that I can attach to the pillion seat of my bike, using the 4 clips that it has under the seat. I think I saw something like it in my travels on the net somewhere but can't seem to find an example now that I look again.

So, I'm after some suggestions as to what would be suitable, and where I can get one, and prices and all that!

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. :D

Hey Charlie, I got an RJays pillion seat bag, cause tank bag for me is ridiculous, and I don't like racks...

Its about 36 litres, plenty of room for a weekender (sleeping bag included) and is waterproof and, and, and, its just ace.... Cost just under $100 from Peter Stevens during a sale. I'll try and get a pic for you. :P

Hmmm, can't find a damn thing on the web, I'll have to take my own.

this is totally off the topic but i use a backpack that has a sterm strap and a waist strap.

when u ride it hardly feels like ur wearing it. I really didnt want to spend $300+ on a gear sack.

its a 35 litre backpack and it works well. Also water proof.

Hi Charlie,

I use an oxford humpback tailpack, I've got the sports version which is quite small, It hlds about 20lt collapsed and 30lt expanded but it suits what I need. There are also larger versions which seem to have the square shape of the old gearsacks.

The base attaches to the bike with a velcro'd strap under the seat and some occy straps to any tie down points you may have. Then the pack part zips onto it. There website is here: http://www.oxprod.com

The photo attached is from their website just to show you how it looks, if you'd like some photos of it on the bike let me know & I can send you some.

Its fairly waterproof on its own and comes with a storm cover as well, also converts to a backpack for carrying when not on the bike.

Matt

I always worry about landing on it (and whats in it) in the event of a fall.

Having said that I've used one on many occasions.

I personally like the ventura rack on my bike.. its stable holds the bag good.. looks fine compared to the others as it goes with the lines..

The only thing left for me to get is the pillion handle option for when the rack part it is taken off

I can vouch for the RJays seat bag. I paid $99 for mine. In a pinch you can use it as a tank bag if you need to throw somebody on the back. It's big enough to hold a helmet and has a built in raincoat. I've had mine for about 2 years and use it often when commuting. I can't fault it.
