Selling/buying a bike from another state...

Post by Stereo »

Hey guys, someone has bought my GS ... they live in WA... does anyone know how to sell to WA? do you need to do anything special? or is it just doing the whole Vic thing and then sending it over?

Why don't you call VICROADS (or check the site: http://www.vicroads.gov.au)?

You will have to hand in your plates to vicroads with the surrender forms, etc. the plates will have to be handed in before the bike can be NSW registered. The NSW guy will have to get a blue slip done on the bike, so getting a rego check done might only give an indication of what needs fixing (if any).

Paperwork wise i am unsure of what happens though....

you can sell it with reg, he'll just have to have it cancelled, best to sell it un regged tho, no paperwork that way. i looked into it once for the other way around, NSW-Vic and yeah, you buy the bike and hand in the plate with the xfer papers to get a refund. but you can easily cash in the reg while you've still got it and give them a refund to that value. its essentially the same thing as buying an unregistered bike, they'll just have to get the RWC and take it into uhhh NSWroads?? ( ) and get it registered. all you need to provide is a receipt that way :D
