Sure is a bargain

I did some investigating a few months back, I asked the local council and they said they had just approved the plans for the Kilcoy race circuit and the fact HRCC have publicly announced it all I can say is make your own mind up! I have also seen the proposed site for above said track and the landscape is simply awesome, no cattle on it for a long time now and use to belong to the Kennedy family or so I am to believe. Nothing to date has appeared on the site so we will see, I have also heard Mick Doohan is involved in the track planning with a bit of PI and other tracks to be included in the design and they are putting all the money into the track itself. The buildings and amenities will come latter no doubt with sponsorships/raffles etc. Last thing is the Federal Gov' is matching dollar for dollar HRCC raise, nothing from Qld Gov'. Roughly 2+ mill on the track from estimates. (Maybe they are working towards international standards perhaps)

Anyway that’s all I know so yup, can only hope for it to happen and soon.

yep i heard international standards so there will be plenty of kitty litter about the place and more than 6 turns to be made...also heard it will probably work both ways which would be revenge for those of us that prefer left handers.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Probably like 75 kms out of brisbane, but its a easy ride and its only like 1/3 of the way around one of our reguler rides so its handy if you live on the northside.

Of course its good that they are getting things rolling but as with most projects it could be a while before its up and running, like dont hold your breath kind of thing.

Of course once dirt starts forming around the place in piles i will be getting excited because its suposed to have corners and not be flat as a pancake like willowbank. :D

75 km is OK, that is almost the same distance to our local track :D

Would be good if they had a website as well.......and if Dick Moohan has got anything to do with circuit design, then it should be a ripper... :D

It makes a lot more sense to open a new track out of the city more then continue the uphill battle that the lakeside supporters have on their hands. Would probably be just as expensive to fix the old track as it was to build a new one. And they would always be battling noise regulations being so close to residential areas. Its bad enough for us f@#$wits (thanks Hemi) with our toy cars let alone thumping V8's.

Eh....Tez, dunno mate but you might have taken me the wrong way about the RC cars thing. What I meant was the council/powers that be are fugwits for closing the track to cars/bikes as they are such a 'menace' in the surrounding hills etc. I am all for people to go hard with the RC cars, looks like a lot of fun. In fact I did not realize how few areas there are for that too.

All I was saying was that regardless of what else happens there, more racetracks for roadbikes etc. are desperately needed. That is the whole issue, and if they are saying "but we have RC cars there" they can get stuffed, it ain't going to stop the road toll or give riders somewhere to go fast legally. They could just as well say they are going to have origami meetings there and it will meet with the same reaction from me. Anyway it is a dead issue as the place will never reopen for action, residents having a nice quiet surrounding to mow their over-sized lawns in being a more important issue with the local Dick I mean Member and all.

AFA Kilcoy is concerned, I was at the General Meeting of the Sportsmen club (who are following this develpment very closely) and it appears there has been a major setback causing a delay of about 6 months before work can start. Apparently June/July the works start? Anyway as long as it happens some time it will be good. The club is hanging on it happening to revive RoadRacing in QLD.

Close man. 5 foot 7 or 8 inches (somewhere there, when you are this short ya don't really need to find out 8) ), 58kg and I do not eat meat or fish. Gotta stay light to make up for the 7s extra kilos!

A race track of international standards???

Mick Doohan helping in the design??

Features of PI incorporated!!

Corners resplendent with liberal kitty litter run off??

Reversable race direction??

All the more reason to enjoy 10 years of access!!!

I have to admit prolonged use of QR is going to square off my tyres to the right of centre.

haha I just threw in the Mick D thing just to stiritup! :P

Well not really that part is a definite rumour AFAIK.

Yes it is in a great spot, the Kilcoy township is over a reasonable ridge with trees so noise will not be an issue. I also go past there once a month on average so I will keep an eye out for developments. Now who wants to open a bike dealership/parts business with me :?:
